耶和華曰、我將判擬耶路撒冷居民告之曰、我必使災熇之風、來自曠野童山、較簸揚禾穀之風尤大、以擊斯邦之民。

當是時必告斯民及耶路撒冷人曰、炎熇之風、自曠野童山向我民而吹、非為簸揚、非為潔禾、

這樹雖然被栽種了，又豈能長得茂盛呢？東風一吹，它豈不完全枯萎在園圃中了嗎？』」

儘管以法蓮在眾弟兄中最強盛，但炙熱的東風——耶和華的風要從沙漠颳來，使清泉枯竭，水井乾涸。他儲藏的一切珍寶都要被擄去。

「耶利米，你要對他們說，『讓我晝夜淚眼汪汪吧，因為我的同胞遭受重創，遍體鱗傷。

真希望我的頭是水泉，眼是淚泉，好為我被殺的同胞晝夜哭泣；

我們的善行不過像骯髒的衣服，我們都像污穢的人，像漸漸枯乾的葉子，我們的罪惡像風一樣把我們吹去。

看啊，耶和華的怒氣像暴風一樣襲來，像旋風一樣吹到惡人頭上。

看啊，耶和華的怒氣必如風暴一樣橫掃過來，颳到惡人頭上。耶和華不完成祂心中的計劃，祂的烈怒必不止息。將來有一天，你們會明白。

聽啊！遠處傳來我同胞的哀鳴：「難道耶和華不在錫安了嗎？難道她的王不在她那裡了嗎？」耶和華說：「他們為什麼供奉雕刻的神像和外族無用的偶像，惹我發怒？」

我哭得眼睛失明，心如刀割，肝膽欲碎，因為人民慘遭毀滅，兒童和嬰孩昏倒在街頭。

耶和華說：「看啊，我要使毀滅的暴風襲擊巴比倫和住在立加米的人。毀滅巴比倫人的日子一到，我要差遣外族人從四面八方攻擊、消滅他們，如同狂風捲走碎稭。

祂手裡拿著簸箕，要清理祂的麥場，把麥子收進倉庫，用不滅的火燒盡糠秕。」

豺狼尚且哺養自己的幼兒，我的子民卻像荒野的鴕鳥一樣殘忍無情。

祂與以色列人為敵，使他們被擄，驅逐他們離開本地，用從東方颳來的暴風吹散他們。

你要簸它們，讓風吹散它們，讓狂風捲走它們。但你要以耶和華為喜樂，以以色列的聖者為榮耀。

因此，萬軍之耶和華說：「看啊，我要熬煉、試驗這些罪惡的子民，除此之外，我別無選擇。

祂手拿簸箕，要把穀場清理乾淨，將麥子存入倉裡，用不滅的火把糠秕燒盡。」

但它被憤怒地連根拔起，拋在地上。東風吹乾了它的果實，粗壯的枝幹折斷枯乾，被火焚燒。

因同胞被毀滅，我淚流成河。

雖然無人攻擊，所多瑪卻在頃刻之間傾覆。我子民比所多瑪受到的懲罰更重。

他們像晨霧，如轉瞬即逝的朝露，像麥場上飛旋而去的糠秕，又像窗口冒出的輕煙。

我的百姓遭毀滅時，慈母親手煮自己的兒女充饑。

所以，我說：「你們不要管我，讓我痛哭一場吧！不要安慰我，我的同胞都被毀滅了。」
