當著他的面殺了他的眾子和猶大所有的首領，

然後，我要把猶大王西底迦及其臣僕以及城中逃過瘟疫、戰爭和饑荒的人都交給巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒等仇敵，使他們落在想殺滅他們的人手中。巴比倫王必殘酷無情地殺戮他們。這是耶和華說的。』

以致眼前的一切令你們發瘋。

至於那些壞得不能吃的無花果，耶和華這樣說，『猶大王西底迦及其官員，以及留在耶路撒冷和埃及的人在我眼中就像壞得不能吃的無花果。我必丟棄他們，使他們的遭遇令天下萬國驚懼。在我流放他們去的地方，他們必受凌辱、嘲笑、譏諷和咒詛。我要使戰爭、饑荒和瘟疫臨到他們，直到他們在我賜給他們和他們祖先的土地上滅亡。』」

自己走到離孩子約一箭之遠的地方，對著孩子坐下，說：「我不忍心看著他死啊！」夏甲坐在那裡放聲大哭起來。

我會讓你平安入土到你祖先那裡。你不會看到我要降給這地方的一切災難。』」他們便回去稟告王。

這孩子不和我一同回去，我如何見我父親呢？我不願看到災難臨到我父親。」

我怎能忍心看我本族的人受害？我怎能忍心看我的親族被殺？」

他們的嬰孩將被摔死在他們眼前，家園遭劫掠，妻子被蹂躪。

我會讓你平安入土，你不會看到我要降給這地方及這裡居民的一切災難。』」他們便回去稟告王。
