城被攻破，城裡的所有士兵便在夜間穿過御花園，從兩城牆中間的門逃往亞拉巴。當時迦勒底人仍四面包圍著城。迦勒底軍隊追趕西底迦，在耶利哥平原追上了他，他的軍隊都四散而逃。迦勒底人擒住西底迦，把他押到利比拉見巴比倫王，在那裡審判他。巴比倫王在西底迦面前殺了他的眾子，又剜去他的雙眼，把他用銅鏈鎖著押往巴比倫。巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒執政第十九年五月七日，他的臣僕——護衛長尼布撒拉旦來到耶路撒冷，放火焚燒耶和華的殿、王宮及城內所有的房屋。他燒毀了所有重要建築。他率領的迦勒底軍隊拆毀了耶路撒冷四圍的城牆。

巴比倫王以未·米羅達在他執政的元年十二月二十七日，即猶大王約雅斤被擄後第三十七年，施恩釋放了約雅斤，並好言相待，使他的地位高過被擄到巴比倫的其他各王。約雅斤脫去了囚衣，終生與巴比倫王一起吃飯。在他有生之年，巴比倫王供應他每天的需用。

「你的嬪妃和兒女必被交給迦勒底人，你也逃不掉，必被巴比倫王所擒。這城也要被付之一炬。」

「你去告訴猶大王西底迦，以色列的上帝耶和華說，『看啊，我要把這城交在巴比倫王的手中，使它被付之一炬。你必逃不出巴比倫王的手心，你必在他面前受審，被帶到巴比倫。

猶大王約雅斤及其母親、臣僕和文官武將向尼布甲尼撒投降。巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒在他執政第八年俘虜了約雅斤，

尼甲·沙利薛、三甲·尼波、撒西金和另一個尼甲·沙利薛等巴比倫王的所有將領都進城坐在中門。

我要撒開網羅抓住他，把他帶到巴比倫，審判他對我不忠的罪。他所有的精兵都要喪身刀下，餘下的也要四散逃竄。這樣，你們就知道這是我耶和華說的。

你這邪惡敗壞的以色列首領啊！你的結局到了，審判你的日子來了。』主耶和華說，『取下你的頭巾，摘下你的冠冕吧，時局轉變了。要提拔卑微的，貶抑高貴的。毀滅，毀滅，我要毀滅這國，使它蕩然無存，直到那應得的人來到後，這國才能得到重建，我要把這國交給他。』

但迦勒底的軍隊追上來，在耶利哥的平原擒住西底迦，把他帶到哈馬的利比拉去見巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒，接受審判。巴比倫王在利比拉當著西底迦的面殺了他的眾子和猶大所有的貴族，並且挖去他的雙眼，把他用銅鏈鎖著帶到巴比倫。

我必撒開網羅捕捉他，把他帶到迦勒底人的巴比倫。他必看不見那地方，卻要死在那裡。
