把耶利米從衛兵的院子裡提出來，交給沙番的孫子、亞希甘的兒子基大利，叫他帶耶利米回家去。這樣，耶利米就住在人民中間。耶利米還監禁在衛兵的院子裡的時候，耶和華的話臨到他，說：“你去告訴古實人以伯．米勒說：‘萬軍之耶和華以色列的神這樣說：看哪！我必在這城實現我的話，降禍不降福；到那日，這一切都必在你面前實現。但到了那日，我必拯救你；你必不至交在你所懼怕的人手裡。’這是耶和華的宣告。‘因為我必定搭救你；你必不會倒在刀下，必可以撿回自己的性命，因為你信靠我。’”這是耶和華的宣告。

於是吩咐百夫長看守保羅，但要寬待他，不可阻止親友來照料他。過了幾天，腓力斯和他的猶太妻子土西拉一同來到，他又傳見保羅，聽他談論在耶穌基督裡的信仰。保羅講到公義、自制和將來的審判的時候，腓力斯就害怕起來，說：“你先走吧，等我有空的時候再叫你來。”同時他也希望保羅送錢給他，所以又多次傳見他，和他談話。

說：‘王這樣吩咐：把這人囚在監裡，少給他食物和水，直到我平平安安回來。’”

這樣，耶利米留在衛兵的院子裡，直到耶路撒冷被攻取的那一天。
