所以耶路撒冷王亞多尼‧洗德打發人去見希伯崙王何咸、耶末王毗蘭、拉吉王雅非亞，和伊磯倫王底璧，說：

羅波安住在耶路撒冷，在猶大地修築城邑，為保障修築伯利恆、以坦、提哥亞、伯‧夙、梭哥、亞杜蘭、迦特、瑪利沙、西弗、亞多萊音、拉吉、亞西加、瑣拉、亞雅崙、希伯崙。這都是猶大和便雅憫的堅固城。

希西家王十四年，亞述王西拿基立上來攻擊猶大的一切堅固城，將城攻取。猶大王希西家差人往拉吉去見亞述王，說：「我有罪了，求你離開我；凡你罰我的，我必承當。」於是亞述王罰猶大王希西家銀子三百他連得，金子三十他連得。

耶末、亞杜蘭、梭哥、亞西加、

你們當傳揚在猶大，宣告在耶路撒冷說：你們當在國中吹角，高聲呼叫說：你們當聚集！我們好進入堅固城！

巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒率領他的全軍和地上屬他的各國各邦，攻打耶路撒冷和屬耶路撒冷所有的城邑。那時，耶和華的話臨到耶利米說：

耶和華使他們在以色列人面前潰亂。約書亞在基遍大大地殺敗他們，追趕他們，在伯‧和崙的上坡路擊殺他們，直到亞西加和瑪基大。他們在以色列人面前逃跑，正在伯‧和崙下坡的時候，耶和華從天上降大冰雹在他們身上，直降到亞西加，打死他們。被冰雹打死的，比以色列人用刀殺死的還多。

一個是耶末王，一個是拉吉王，

拉吉、波斯加、伊磯倫、

又在猶大山地建造城邑，在樹林中建築營寨和高樓。

拉吉的居民哪，要用快馬套車；錫安民的罪由你而起；以色列人的罪過在你那裏顯出。

他們必將你困在你各城裏，直到你所倚靠、高大堅固的城牆都被攻塌。他們必將你困在耶和華－你神所賜你遍地的各城裏。

那時，猶大城邑的人和耶路撒冷的居民要去哀求他們燒香所供奉的神；只是遭難的時候，這些神毫不拯救他們。

我們為何靜坐不動呢？我們當聚集，進入堅固城，在那裏靜默不言；因為耶和華－我們的神使我們靜默不言，又將苦膽水給我們喝，都因我們得罪了耶和華。

拉伯沙基回去，正遇見亞述王攻打立拿，原來他早聽見亞述王拔營離開拉吉。
