“ Your cousin Hanamel son of Shallum will come and say to you,‘ Buy my field at Anathoth. By law you have the right to buy it before it is offered to anyone else.’”

‘你叔叔沙龙的儿子哈拿篾必来见你，说：我在亚拿突的那块地，求你买来；因你买这地是合乎赎回之理。’”

‘看啊，你叔父沙龙的儿子哈拿篾会去找你，让你买下他在亚拿突的那块田地，说你是他的近亲，理当买下它。’”

‘看哪！你叔叔沙龙的儿子哈拿篾必来见你，说：请你买下我在亚拿突的那块田地，因为你有近亲的权利和义务去买那田地。’

‘看哪！你叔叔沙龍的兒子哈拿篾必來見你，說：請你買下我在亞拿突的那塊田地，因為你有近親的權利和義務去買那田地。’

看吧，你叔叔沙龍的兒子哈拿篾必來見你、說：「在亞拿突我那田地、你要買它，因為贖回而買的權利和義務是在於你。」

爾叔沙龍子哈拿篾、將詣爾曰、我在亞拿突之田、請爾購之、蓋贖此田、乃爾所宜、爾可購之、

爾叔沙龍之子、哈拿滅將至、請爾贖其田疇、斯田在亞拿突邑、所當贖者、惟爾一人。

爾叔沙龍子哈拿篾將詣爾所、告爾曰、我有田在亞拿突、請爾購之、爾乃我族人、購之相宜、

Hanamel son of Shallum your uncle is going to come to you and say,‘ Buy my field at Anathoth, because as nearest relative it is your right and duty to buy it.’

‘ Hanamel is going to come to you. He is the son of your uncle Shallum. Hanamel will say,“ Buy my field at Anathoth. You are my closest relative. So it’s your right and duty to buy it.” ’

Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle will come to you and say,‘ Buy my field that is at Anathoth, for the right of redemption by purchase is yours.’

Watch! Hanamel, the son of your uncle Shallum, is coming to you to say,‘ Buy my field in Anathoth for yourself, for you own the right of redemption to buy it.’

‘ Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle is coming to you, saying,“ Buy for yourself my field which is at Anathoth, for you have the right of redemption to buy it.” ’

‘ Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle will come to you, saying,“ Buy my field which is in Anathoth, for the right of redemption is yours to buy it.”’

Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee, saying, Buy thee my field that is in Anathoth; for the right of redemption is thine to buy it.

Watch! Hanamel, the son of your uncle Shallum, is coming to you to say,‘ Buy my field in Anathoth for yourself, for you own the right of redemption to buy it.’

Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee, saying, Buy thee my field that[ is] in Anathoth: for the right of redemption[ is] thine to buy[ it].

‘ Hanamel, the son of your uncle Shallum, will come to you soon. He will say to you,“ Buy my field at Anathoth because you are entitled as my closest relative to buy it.”’

‘ Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle will come to you, saying,“ Buy my field that is in Anathoth; for the right of redemption is yours to buy it.”’”

These are the words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, one of the priests from the town of Anathoth in the land of Benjamin.

This is what the Lord says about the men of Anathoth who wanted me dead. They had said,“ We will kill you if you do not stop prophesying in the Lord’s name.”

If one of your fellow Israelites falls into poverty and is forced to sell some family land, then a close relative should buy it back for him.

an uncle, or a cousin. In fact, anyone from the extended family may buy them back. They may also redeem themselves if they have prospered.

Anathoth, and Almon— four towns.So in all, thirteen towns with their pasturelands were given to the priests, the descendants of Aaron.

So Jesus sent two of them into Jerusalem with these instructions:“ As you go into the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him.At the house he enters, say to the owner,‘ The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room where I can eat the Passover meal with my disciples?’He will take you upstairs to a large room that is already set up. That is where you should prepare our meal.”So the two disciples went into the city and found everything just as Jesus had said, and they prepared the Passover meal there.

And Boaz said to the family redeemer,“ You know Naomi, who came back from Moab. She is selling the land that belonged to our relative Elimelech.I thought I should speak to you about it so that you can redeem it if you wish. If you want the land, then buy it here in the presence of these witnesses. But if you don’t want it, let me know right away, because I am next in line to redeem it after you.” The man replied,“ All right, I’ll redeem it.”Then Boaz told him,“ Of course, your purchase of the land from Naomi also requires that you marry Ruth, the Moabite widow. That way she can have children who will carry on her husband’s name and keep the land in the family.”“ Then I can’t redeem it,” the family redeemer replied,“ because this might endanger my own estate. You redeem the land; I cannot do it.”Now in those days it was the custom in Israel for anyone transferring a right of purchase to remove his sandal and hand it to the other party. This publicly validated the transaction.So the other family redeemer drew off his sandal as he said to Boaz,“ You buy the land.”Then Boaz said to the elders and to the crowd standing around,“ You are witnesses that today I have bought from Naomi all the property of Elimelech, Kilion, and Mahlon.

“ Command the people of Israel to give to the Levites from their property certain towns to live in, along with the surrounding pasturelands.

But the Lord had told Ahijah,“ Jeroboam’s wife will come here, pretending to be someone else. She will ask you about her son, for he is very sick. Give her the answer I give you.”

“ Go into that village over there,” he told them.“ As soon as you enter it, you will see a young donkey tied there that no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.If anyone asks,‘ What are you doing?’ just say,‘ The Lord needs it and will return it soon.’”The two disciples left and found the colt standing in the street, tied outside the front door.As they were untying it, some bystanders demanded,“ What are you doing, untying that colt?”They said what Jesus had told them to say, and they were permitted to take it.

The open pastureland around the Levitical towns may never be sold. It is their permanent possession.

“ The land must never be sold on a permanent basis, for the land belongs to me. You are only foreigners and tenant farmers working for me.
