蓋耶利米曾曰、耶和華云、我將付此城於巴比倫王、使彼取之、猶大王西底家不能脫於迦勒底人手、必解至巴比倫王前、詰問研究、曳至巴比倫、居彼、待我耶和華眷顧之、爾曹雖戰巴比倫軍、必不獲利。西底家王聞之、怒其言不利、故下之於獄。

蓋耶利米曾述預言曰、主如是云、我將付此邑於巴比倫王手、使彼取之、猶大王西底家不能脫於迦勒底人手、必付於巴比倫王手、面審詰問、面審詰問原文作其口彼此對言其目彼此相視必將西底家擄至巴比倫、居彼待我眷顧之、爾曹雖與迦勒底人戰、必不獲勝、此乃主所言、猶大王西底家遂問耶利米曰、爾何為述若是之預言、於是囚之於獄、

For King Zedekiah had confined Jeremiah there after he had reproved him for prophesying as he did. He had asked Jeremiah,“ Why do you keep prophesying these things? Why do you keep saying that the LORD says,‘ I will hand this city over to the king of Babylon? I will let him capture it.

For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying,“ Why do you prophesy, and say,‘ Yahweh says,“ Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will take it;

以色列之上帝耶和華曰、往告猶大王西底家曰、耶和華云、我必付是邑於巴比倫王手、彼將焚之以火、爾不得脫於其手、必見執而付於其手、爾目觀巴比倫王之目、彼與爾言、以口對口、爾必至巴比倫、

以色列之上帝耶和華曰、爾所持之戰具、在於城外、以戰巴比倫王、及圍爾之迦勒底人、我必使之反退、集於邑中、我必震怒發忿、自以高舉之手、有力之臂攻爾、擊此邑之居民、或人或畜、俱遭大疫而亡、耶和華曰、厥後、我必以猶大王西底家、暨其臣僕庶民、凡在邑中、疫癘鋒刃饑饉之餘、悉付於巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒、與其諸敵、及索其命者之手、巴比倫王必擊之以刃、不惜之、不憐之、不加矜憫、○

耶利米以耶和華所命、告眾既竟、祭司先知庶民執之曰、爾必死、爾奚託耶和華名預言曰、此室必如示羅、此邑荒蕪、無人居處哉、眾乃集於耶利米前、在耶和華室、○

耶和華曰、我必付是邑於迦勒底人、及巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒之手、彼必至而取之、攻斯邑之迦勒底人、必縱火焚之、爰及屋宇、民在其巔、焚香於巴力、灌奠於他神、激我震怒之所、

亞哈斯王困苦之際、愈干犯耶和華、

無論何國何族、不服事巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒、不以其項負巴比倫王之軛者、我必以鋒刃饑饉疫癘罰之、迨盡滅於其手、耶和華言之矣、

王曰、摩西亞倫、爾何釋民、俾不操作、爾其往服厥役、

我責爾子、乃徒然也、彼不受教、爾刃如猛獅、吞噬爾先知、

耶和華諭耶利米曰、以色列之上帝耶和華云、其告遣爾問我之猶大王曰、法老之軍旅出以助爾、必返埃及、入其故土、迦勒底人必復來攻斯邑、取而焚之、耶和華曰、毋自欺云、迦勒底人必去我、必不去也、攻爾之迦勒底人、爾縱擊其全軍、惟遺受創者於其中、彼必自幕而起、火焚斯邑、○

試告我、爾以何權行是、賜爾此權者誰耶、

乃聳動眾民與長老、士子、突至而執之、曳至公會、設偽證者、曰、此人出悖逆聖所、及律法之言不已、蓋我儕曾聞其言、曰、斯拿撒勒耶穌、將毀此所、且易摩西授我之規、

王曰、今日若容沙法子以利沙之首、仍在其身、則願上帝罰我維倍、以利沙坐於室、長老偕坐、王遣侍者先往、使者未至、以利沙謂長老曰、試觀此兇人之子、遣人取我首、使者至、爾則閉門、嚴守而禦之、其主之足音、非隨其後乎、

耶和華歟、爾目非顧信實乎、爾擊之、彼不懷憂、爾滅之、彼不受教、惟自堅其顏、逾於磐石、不肯歸誠、

則出王宮、告王曰、

牧伯奏王曰、斯人不求民利、惟求其害、請致之死、蓋彼所言、使邑中所遺之戰士庶民、厥手咸弱、

惟在伯特利勿復預言、蓋此為王之聖所、國家之宮室也、
