於是西底家王下令，他們就把耶利米交在護衛兵的院中，每天從餅店街取一個餅給他，直到城中所有的餅都用盡了。這樣，耶利米仍逗留在護衛兵的院中。

烏賽的兒子巴拉修造轉彎處的對面和靠近護衛院、王宮上層凸出來的城樓。接續他的是巴錄的兒子毗大雅，

他們就拿住耶利米，把他丟在王的兒子瑪基雅的井裏；那口井在護衛兵的院中。他們用繩子把耶利米縋下去，井裏沒有水，只有淤泥，耶利米就陷在淤泥中。

耶利米還囚在護衛兵的院內，耶和華的話第二次臨到他，說：

我叔父的兒子哈拿篾果然照耶和華的話來到護衛兵的院內，對我說：『請你買我在便雅憫境內、亞拿突的那塊地；因為它應該由你來承受，而且你也有代贖的責任。請你買下它吧！』我就知道這確是耶和華的話。

要歡喜快樂，因為你們在天上的賞賜是很多的。在你們以前的先知，人也是這樣迫害他們。」

耶利米吩咐巴錄說：「我被禁止，不能進耶和華的殿。

因為猶大王西底家囚禁他，說：「你為甚麼預言耶和華如此說：『看哪，我要把這城交在巴比倫王的手中，他必攻下這城。

尼布撒拉旦護衛長和尼布沙斯班將軍、尼甲‧沙利薛將軍，並巴比倫王眾官長，派人把耶利米從護衛兵的院中提出來，交給沙番的孫子，亞希甘的兒子基大利，讓他自由進出屋子；於是耶利米住在百姓中間。耶利米還囚在護衛兵院中的時候，耶和華的話臨到他，說：
