I gave faithless Israel her certificate of divorce and sent her away because of all her adulteries. Yet I saw that her unfaithful sister Judah had no fear; she also went out and committed adultery.

I gave Israel their letter of divorce. I sent them away because they were unfaithful to me so many times. But I saw that their sister nation Judah did not have any respect for me. They were not faithful to me either. They also went out and committed adultery with other gods.

She saw that for all the adulteries of that faithless one, Israel, I had sent her away with a decree of divorce. Yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but she too went and played the whore.

She saw that I divorced faithless Israel because of her adultery. But that treacherous sister Judah had no fear, and now she, too, has left me and given herself to prostitution.

I observed that it was because unfaithful Israel had committed adultery that I had sent her away and had given her a certificate of divorce. Nevertheless, her treacherous sister Judah was not afraid but also went and prostituted herself.

And I saw that for all the adulteries of faithless Israel, I had sent her away and given her a certificate of divorce, yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear; but she went and prostituted herself also.

Then I saw that for all the causes for which backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a certificate of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but went and played the harlot also.

And I saw, when, for this very cause that backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a bill of divorcement, yet treacherous Judah her sister feared not; but she also went and played the harlot.

I observed that it was because unfaithful Israel had committed adultery that I had sent her away and had given her a certificate of divorce. Nevertheless, her treacherous sister Judah was not afraid but also went and prostituted herself.

And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.

She also saw that I gave wayward Israel her divorce papers and sent her away because of her adulterous worship of other gods. Even after her unfaithful sister Judah had seen this, she still was not afraid, and she too went and gave herself like a prostitute to other gods.

I saw when, for this very cause, that backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a certificate of divorce, yet treacherous Judah, her sister, had no fear; but she also went and played the prostitute.

“人若娶妻以后，见她有什么不合理的事，不喜悦她，就可以写休书交在她手中，打发她离开夫家。

“有话说：人若休妻，妻离他而去，作了别人的妻，前夫岂能再收回她来？若收回她来，那地岂不是大大玷污了吗？但你和许多亲爱的行邪淫，还可以归向我。这是耶和华说的。

耶和华如此说：“我休你们的母亲，休书在哪里呢？我将你们卖给我哪一个债主呢？你们被卖，是因你们的罪孽；你们的母亲被休，是因你们的过犯。

何细亚第九年亚述王攻取了撒玛利亚，将以色列人掳到亚述，把他们安置在哈腊与歌散的哈博河边，并玛代人的城邑。这是因以色列人得罪那领他们出埃及地、脱离埃及王法老手的耶和华他们的神，去敬畏别神，随从耶和华在他们面前所赶出外邦人的风俗和以色列诸王所立的条规。以色列人暗中行不正的事，违背耶和华他们的神，在他们所有的城邑，从瞭望楼直到坚固城，建筑邱坛；在各高冈上、各青翠树下立柱像和木偶；在邱坛上烧香，效法耶和华在他们面前赶出的外邦人所行的，又行恶事惹动耶和华的怒气；且侍奉偶像，就是耶和华警戒他们不可行的。但耶和华藉众先知、先见劝戒以色列人和犹大人说：“当离开你们的恶行，谨守我的诫命律例，遵行我吩咐你们列祖，并藉我仆人众先知所传给你们的律法。”他们却不听从，竟硬着颈项，效法他们列祖，不信服耶和华他们的神，厌弃他的律例和他与他们列祖所立的约，并劝戒他们的话，随从虚无的神，自己成为虚妄，效法周围的外邦人，就是耶和华嘱咐他们不可效法的；离弃耶和华他们神的一切诫命，为自己铸了两个牛犊的像，立了亚舍拉，敬拜天上的万象，侍奉巴力，又使他们的儿女经火，用占卜，行法术卖了自己，行耶和华眼中看为恶的事，惹动他的怒气。所以耶和华向以色列人大大发怒，从自己面前赶出他们，只剩下犹大一个支派。犹大人也不遵守耶和华他们神的诫命，随从以色列人所立的条规。

因此，我将她交在她所爱的人手中，就是她所恋爱的亚述人手中。

“你们要与你们的母亲大大争辩；因为她不是我的妻子，我也不是她的丈夫。叫她除掉脸上的淫像和胸间的淫态，免得我剥她的衣服，使她赤体，与才生的时候一样，使她如旷野，如干旱之地，因渴而死。

“以色列啊，你虽然行淫，犹大却不可犯罪。不要往吉甲去，不要上到伯亚文，也不要指着永生的耶和华起誓。以色列倔强，犹如倔强的母牛；现在耶和华要放他们，如同放羊羔在宽阔之地。“以法莲亲近偶像，任凭他吧！

后夫若恨恶她，写休书交在她手中，打发她离开夫家，或是娶她为妻的后夫死了，

“她妹妹阿荷利巴虽然看见了，却还贪恋，比她姐姐更丑；行淫乱比她姐姐更多。她贪恋邻邦的亚述人，就是穿极华美的衣服，骑着马的省长、副省长，都是可爱的少年人。我看见她被玷污了，她姐妹二人同行一路。阿荷利巴又加增淫行，因她看见人像画在墙上，就是用丹色所画迦勒底人的像，腰间系着带子，头上有下垂的裹头巾，都是军长的形状，仿照巴比伦人的形像；他们的故土就是迦勒底。阿荷利巴一看见就贪恋他们，打发使者往迦勒底去见他们。巴比伦人就来登她爱情的床，与她行淫玷污她。她被玷污，随后心里与他们生疏。这样，她显露淫行，又显露下体；我心就与她生疏，像先前与她姐姐生疏一样。她还加增她的淫行，追念她幼年在埃及地行邪淫的日子，贪恋情人身壮精足，如驴如马。这样，你就想起你幼年的淫行。那时，埃及人拥抱你的怀，抚摸你的乳。”

耶和华说：“他们一切的恶事都在吉甲；我在那里憎恶他们。因他们所行的恶，我必从我地上赶出他们去，不再怜爱他们；他们的首领都是悖逆的。以法莲受责罚，根本枯干，必不能结果，即或生产，我必杀他们所生的爱子。”我的神必弃绝他们，因为他们不听从他；他们也必飘流在列国中。

希西家王第四年，就是以色列王以拉的儿子何细亚第七年，亚述王撒缦以色上来围困撒玛利亚；过了三年就攻取了城。希西家第六年，以色列王何细亚第九年，撒玛利亚被攻取了。亚述王将以色列人掳到亚述，把他们安置在哈腊与歌散的哈博河边，并玛代人的城邑；

以色列人也必多日独居，无君王，无首领，无祭祀，无柱像，无以弗得，无家中的神像。

你没有效法她们的行为，也没有照她们可憎的事去做，你以那为小事，你一切所行的倒比她们更坏。
