During the reign of King Josiah, the Lord said to me,“ Have you seen what faithless Israel has done? She has gone up on every high hill and under every spreading tree and has committed adultery there.

During the time Josiah was king, the Lord spoke to me. He said,“ Have you seen what the people of Israel have done? They have not been faithful to me. They have committed adultery with other gods. They worshiped them on every high hill and under every green tree.

The Lord said to me in the days of King Josiah:“ Have you seen what she did, that faithless one, Israel, how she went up on every high hill and under every green tree, and there played the whore?

During the reign of King Josiah, the Lord said to me,“ Have you seen what fickle Israel has done? Like a wife who commits adultery, Israel has worshiped other gods on every hill and under every green tree.

In the days of King Josiah the LORD asked me,“ Have you seen what unfaithful Israel has done? She has ascended every high hill and gone under every green tree to prostitute herself there.

Then the Lord said to me in the days of King Josiah,“ Have you seen what faithless Israel did? She went up on every high hill and under every leafy tree, and she prostituted herself there.

The Lord said also to me in the days of Josiah the king:“ Have you seen what backsliding Israel has done? She has gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and there played the harlot.

Moreover Jehovah said unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.

In the days of King Josiah the Lord asked me,“ Have you seen what unfaithful Israel has done? She has ascended every high hill and gone under every green tree to prostitute herself there.

The LORD said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen[ that] which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.

When Josiah was king of Judah, the LORD said to me,“ Jeremiah, you have no doubt seen what wayward Israel has done. You have seen how she went up to every high hill and under every green tree to give herself like a prostitute to other gods.

Moreover, Yahweh said to me in the days of Josiah the king,“ Have you seen that which backsliding Israel has done? She has gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and has played the prostitute there.

因為你在街頭巷尾築祭壇，在廣場建高高的神廟，甚至不收淫資，實在連妓女都不如。

他們在各高崗上、樹蔭下為自己建造邱壇，豎立神柱和亞舍拉神像，

當我引領他們進入我曾起誓要賜給他們的土地時，他們在所見的每一處高山或密林獻祭，焚燒馨香的祭牲，向偶像奠酒，惹我發怒。

他們卻掩耳不聽，一意孤行，任意行惡，越來越壞。

他們的兒女沒有忘記綠樹下、高崗上、

還為自己築祭壇，在各廣場建高高的神廟。你在街頭巷尾建高高的神廟，糟蹋自己的美貌。你向每一個過路的人投懷送抱，縱情淫亂，

因為以色列不忠貞，我給她休書，把她休掉。她不忠的妹妹猶大卻不害怕，竟也去淫亂。

「她妹妹阿荷利巴看見這一切，不但沒有引以為戒，反而更加放蕩淫亂。

你必因自己的罪惡而受懲罰，因自己的背叛而受責備。因此，你要省察且明白，背棄你的上帝耶和華、不敬畏我是多麼邪惡、痛苦。這是萬軍之耶和華說的。「很久以前，我折斷你的軛，解開你的捆索，你卻拒絕事奉我，在各高崗上、綠樹下躺臥淫亂。

耶和華對我說：「不忠貞的以色列比奸詐的猶大罪過還輕。你去向北方宣告，『耶和華說，不忠貞的以色列啊，回轉吧！我必不向你們發怒，因為我充滿慈愛，不會永遠懷怒。』這是耶和華說的。『你必須要承認自己的罪，承認背叛了你的上帝耶和華，在綠蔭樹下祭拜各種外邦的神明，不聽從我的話。』這是耶和華說的。「『不忠貞的子民啊，回轉吧！因為我是你們的主人。我要從你們中間選些人帶回錫安，每座城邑或每個宗族選一兩個人。』這是耶和華說的。

以色列人之所以有如此下場，是因為他們的上帝耶和華領他們出埃及，從埃及王法老手中救出他們，他們卻犯罪得罪祂。他們祭拜別的神明，效法耶和華在他們面前趕走的外族人的風俗和以色列諸王奉行的習俗。以色列人暗中做不義之事，冒犯他們的上帝耶和華。從瞭望塔到堅城，他們在各地建邱壇，在各高崗上、綠樹下立神柱和亞舍拉神像，在各邱壇燒香，如同耶和華在他們面前趕走的外族人一樣。他們邪惡的行為激怒了耶和華。儘管耶和華警告他們不可祭拜偶像，他們仍然執迷不悟。耶和華藉著祂的眾先知和先見警告以色列人和猶大人說：「你們要離開惡道，遵守我的誡命和律例，即我吩咐你們祖先遵守並藉著我的僕人——眾先知傳給你們的律法。」但他們充耳不聞，像他們祖先一樣頑固不化，不信靠他們的上帝耶和華，拒絕遵守祂的律例和祂與他們祖先所立的約，無視祂的警告。他們隨從虛無的偶像，自己也變得虛無。他們違背耶和華的命令，去效法周圍的外族人。他們把他們的上帝耶和華的誡命拋諸腦後，鑄造了兩個金牛犢，還造了亞舍拉神像。他們祭拜巴力和天上的萬象，把自己的兒女燒死獻作祭物。他們占卜，行邪術，出賣自己去做耶和華視為惡的事，惹祂發怒。

你們在高山上淫亂、獻祭，
