Why do you prophesy in the Lord’s name that this house will be like Shiloh and this city will be desolate and deserted?” And all the people crowded around Jeremiah in the house of the Lord.

但為避免這事越發在民間傳揚，我們必須威嚇他們，叫他們不可再奉這名對任何人講論。」於是他們叫了兩人來，禁止他們，再不可奉耶穌的名講論或教導人。彼得和約翰回答他們說：「聽從你們，不聽從上帝，在上帝面前合理不合理，你們自己判斷吧！

你們怨恨那在城門口斷是非的，憎惡那說正直話的。

我們曾聽見他說，這拿撒勒人耶穌要毀壞這地方，也要改變摩西所交給我們的規矩。」

這些話是耶穌在聖殿的銀庫房裏教導人的時候說的。當時沒有人捉拿他，因為他的時候還沒有到。

我必使耶路撒冷成為廢墟，為野狗的住處，也必使猶大的城鎮荒廢，無人居住。

有一個銀匠，名叫底米丟，是製造亞底米神銀龕的，他使從事這手藝的人生意發達。他聚集他們和同行的工人，說：「諸位，你們知道我們是倚靠這生意發財的。你們看到，也聽見這保羅不但在以弗所，也幾乎在亞細亞全地，引誘迷惑了許多人，說：『人手所做的不是神明。』這樣，不僅我們這行業陷入被藐視的危險，就是大女神亞底米的廟也要被人輕看，連亞細亞全地和普天下所敬拜的女神的威望也受損害了。」眾人聽見，就怒氣沖沖，喊着說：「大哉，以弗所人的亞底米！」於是滿城都騷動起來。眾人抓住與保羅同行的馬其頓人該猶和亞里達古，齊心衝進劇場。保羅想要進到民眾那裏，門徒卻不許他去。連亞細亞的幾位官員，是保羅的朋友，也打發人來勸他不要冒險到劇場裏去。聚集的人亂成一團，有的喊這個，有的喊那個，大半不知道為了甚麼聚集。

於是他們拿石頭要打他，耶穌卻躲開，走出了聖殿。

但是祭司長們煽動眾人，寧可要他釋放巴拉巴給他們。

但不信的猶太人心裏嫉妒，聚集了些市井流氓，搭夥成羣，煽動全城的人闖進耶孫的家，要把保羅和西拉帶到民眾那裏。那些人找不着他們，就把耶孫和幾個弟兄拉到地方官那裏，喊叫着：「這些攪亂天下的人也到這裏來了，耶孫竟收留他們。這些人都違背凱撒的命令，說另有一個王耶穌。」眾人和地方官聽見這些話，就惶恐了，

使女的主人們見發財的指望沒有了，就揪住保羅和西拉，拉他們到市上去見官；又帶他們到行政官長們面前，說：「這些騷擾我們城的，他們是猶太人，竟傳佈我們羅馬人所不可接受、不可遵守的規矩。」羣眾就一齊起來攻擊他們。官長們吩咐撕開他們的衣裳，用棍子打；

眾人聽他說到這句話，就高聲說：「這樣的人，從地上除掉他吧！他是該死的。」

說：「我們不是嚴嚴地禁止你們，不可奉這名教導人嗎？看，你們倒把你們的道理充滿了耶路撒冷，想要叫這人的血歸到我們身上！」

但猶太人挑唆虔敬尊貴的婦女和城內有名望的人，迫害保羅和巴拿巴，把他們趕出境外。

耶穌進了聖殿，正教導人的時候，祭司長和百姓的長老來問他：「你仗着甚麼權柄做這些事？給你這權柄的是誰呢？」

他們憑一句話定一個人有罪，為在城門口斷是非的設下羅網，又用虛無的事屈枉義人。

祭司長和長老挑唆眾人，要求釋放巴拉巴，除掉耶穌。

於是全城都騷動，百姓一齊跑來，拿住保羅，拉他出聖殿，殿門立刻都關了。

他們傳講說：「不可傳講；人都不可傳講這些事，羞辱不會臨到我們。」

因為他們是悖逆的百姓、說謊的兒女，是不肯聽從耶和華訓誨的兒女。他們對先見說：「不要再看了」；對先知說：「不要向我們預言正直的事；要對我們說好聽的話，預言虛幻的事。要離開這道，偏離這路，不要在我們面前再提說以色列的聖者。」

先知與王說話的時候，王對他說：「難道我們立你作王的謀士嗎？你住口吧！為何要挨打呢？」先知就止住了，卻說：「我知道上帝已定意要消滅你，因為你行這事，不聽從我的勸戒。」
