或者他們肯聽從，各人回轉離開惡道，我就改變心意，不將我因他們所行的惡、想要施行的災禍降與他們。

彼或聽從、各轉離其惡途、俾我回意、不以我因其惡、所欲施行之災降之、

庶幾聽從、改其惡行、我欲降災、以罰其罪、止而不行。

庶幾彼眾聽從、各舍惡途、則我心回意轉、不降我因其惡行所欲降彼之災、

Perhaps they will listen and each will turn from their evil ways. Then I will relent and not inflict on them the disaster I was planning because of the evil they have done.

Perhaps they will listen. Maybe they will turn from their evil ways. Then I will not do what I said I would. I will not bring trouble on them. I had planned to punish them because of the evil things they had done.

It may be they will listen, and every one turn from his evil way, that I may relent of the disaster that I intend to do to them because of their evil deeds.

我何時論到一邦或一國說，要拔出、拆毀、毀壞；我所說的那一邦若回轉離開他們的惡，我就改變心意，不將我想要施行的災禍降與他們。我何時論到一邦或一國說，要建立、栽植；他們若行我眼中看為惡的事，不聽從我的話，我就改變心意，不將我所說的福氣賜給他們。

你們要洗滌、自潔，從我眼前除掉惡行；要停止作惡，學習行善，尋求公平，幫助受欺壓的，替孤兒伸冤，為寡婦辯護。」耶和華說：「來吧，我們彼此辯論。你們的罪雖像硃紅，必變成雪白；雖紅如丹顏，必白如羊毛。你們若甘心聽從，必吃地上的美物；

或者猶大家聽見我想要降給他們的一切災禍，各人就回轉離開惡道，我就赦免他們的罪孽和罪惡。」

惡人若回轉離開所行的惡，行公平公義的事，他必救自己的命；因為他省察，回轉離開所犯的一切罪過，他必要存活，不致死亡。以色列家還說：『主的道不公平！』以色列家啊，我的道不公平嗎？你們的道不是不公平嗎？所以，以色列家啊，我必按你們各人所做的審判你們。當回轉，回轉離開你們一切的罪過，免得罪孽成為你們的絆腳石。這是主耶和華說的。

亞哈聽見這些話，就撕裂衣服，禁食，貼身穿着麻布，也睡在麻布上，沮喪地走來走去。

人與牲畜都要披上麻布，切切求告上帝。各人要回轉離開惡道，離棄自己掌中的殘暴。誰知道上帝也許會回心轉意，不發烈怒，使我們不致滅亡。」上帝察看他們的行為，見他們離開惡道，上帝就改變心意，原先所說要降與他們的災難，他不降了。

「亞哈在我面前這樣謙卑，你看見了嗎？因為他在我面前謙卑，所以在他的日子，我不降這禍；到他兒子的時候，我必降這禍於他的家。」

他就向耶和華禱告，說：「耶和華啊，這不就是我仍在本國的時候所說的嗎？我知道你是有恩惠，有憐憫的上帝，不輕易發怒，有豐盛的慈愛，並且會改變心意，不降那災難。我就是因為這樣，才急速逃往他施去的呀！

或者他們的懇求達到耶和華面前，各人回轉離開惡道，因為耶和華向這百姓所說要發的怒氣和憤怒實在很大。」
