Then the officials and all the people said to the priests and the prophets,“ This man does not deserve the sentence of death, for he has spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.”

Then the officials and all the people said to the priests and the prophets,“ This man should not be sentenced to death! He has spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.”

Then the officials and all the people spoke to the priests and prophets. They said,“ This man shouldn’t be sentenced to death! He has spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.”

Then the officials and the people said to the priests and prophets,“ This man does not deserve the death sentence, for he has spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.”

Then the officials and all the people told the priests and prophets,“ This man doesn’t deserve the death sentence, for he has spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God!”

Then the officials and all the people said to the priests and the prophets,“ No death sentence for this man! For he has spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.”

So the princes and all the people said to the priests and the prophets,“ This man does not deserve to die. For he has spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.”

Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets: This man is not worthy of death; for he hath spoken to us in the name of Jehovah our God.

Then the officials and all the people told the priests and prophets,“ This man doesn’t deserve the death sentence, for he has spoken to us in the name of Yahweh our God!”

Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets; This man[ is] not worthy to die: for he hath spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God.

Then the officials and all the people rendered their verdict to the priests and the prophets. They said,“ This man should not be condemned to die. For he has spoken to us under the authority of the LORD our God.”

Then the princes and all the people said to the priests and to the prophets:“ This man is not worthy of death; for he has spoken to us in the name of Yahweh our God.”

But a Pharisee in the council named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law held in honor by all the people, stood up and gave orders to put the men outside for a little while.And he said to them,“ Men of Israel, take care what you are about to do with these men.For before these days Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody, and a number of men, about four hundred, joined him. He was killed, and all who followed him were dispersed and came to nothing.After him Judas the Galilean rose up in the days of the census and drew away some of the people after him. He too perished, and all who followed him were scattered.So in the present case I tell you, keep away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or this undertaking is of man, it will fail;but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God!” So they took his advice,

Then a great clamor arose, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees’ party stood up and contended sharply,“ We find nothing wrong in this man. What if a spirit or an angel spoke to him?”

I found that he was being accused about questions of their law, but charged with nothing deserving death or imprisonment.

Even when Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah urged the king not to burn the scroll, he would not listen to them.

Then the officials said to Baruch,“ Go and hide, you and Jeremiah, and let no one know where you are.”

But I found that he had done nothing deserving death. And as he himself appealed to the emperor, I decided to go ahead and send him.

For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

And he said,“ Why? what evil has he done?” But they shouted all the more,“ Let him be crucified!”So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying,“ I am innocent of this man’s blood; see to it yourselves.”

And when they had withdrawn, they said to one another,“ This man is doing nothing to deserve death or imprisonment.”And Agrippa said to Festus,“ This man could have been set free if he had not appealed to Caesar.”

When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said,“ Truly this was the Son of God!”

When Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, a eunuch who was in the king’s house, heard that they had put Jeremiah into the cistern— the king was sitting in the Benjamin Gate—Ebed-melech went from the king’s house and said to the king,“ My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they did to Jeremiah the prophet by casting him into the cistern, and he will die there of hunger, for there is no bread left in the city.”Then the king commanded Ebed-melech the Ethiopian,“ Take thirty men with you from here, and lift Jeremiah the prophet out of the cistern before he dies.”So Ebed-melech took the men with him and went to the house of the king, to a wardrobe in the storehouse, and took from there old rags and worn-out clothes, which he let down to Jeremiah in the cistern by ropes.Then Ebed-melech the Ethiopian said to Jeremiah,“ Put the rags and clothes between your armpits and the ropes.” Jeremiah did so.Then they drew Jeremiah up with ropes and lifted him out of the cistern. And Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.

and said to them,“ You brought me this man as one who was misleading the people. And after examining him before you, behold, I did not find this man guilty of any of your charges against him.Neither did Herod, for he sent him back to us. Look, nothing deserving death has been done by him.

Then the priests and the prophets said to the officials and to all the people,“ This man deserves the sentence of death, because he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your own ears.”

When a man’s ways please the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.”

Now when the centurion saw what had taken place, he praised God, saying,“ Certainly this man was innocent!”
