他把约雅斤掳到巴比伦去，又把太后、后妃、太监和国中的要员都从耶路撒冷掳到巴比伦；

看哪，勇士啊！耶和华将要猛烈地抛掷你；他必把你紧紧抓住，

约雅斤登基的时候是十八岁，他在耶路撒冷作王三个月；他母亲名叫尼护施他，是耶路撒冷人以利拿单的女儿。

如果他们问你：‘我们要去哪里？’你就告诉他们：‘耶和华这样说：该死亡的，就死亡；该被刀剑所杀的，就被刀剑所杀；该遭遇饥荒的，就遭遇饥荒；该被掳的，就被掳去！’我要命定四种刑罚对付他们，就是刀剑杀戮，尸体被野狗拖走，被空中的飞鸟和地上的走兽吞吃与毁灭。”这是耶和华的宣告。“因犹大王希西家的儿子玛拿西在耶路撒冷的所作所为，我必使地上万国看见他们的遭遇就惊恐。”

约雅斤登基的时候，是八岁；他在耶路撒冷作王共三个月零十天，行耶和华看为恶的事。过了年，尼布甲尼撒派人去把约雅斤和耶和华殿里的珍贵的器皿，一起带到巴比伦来。他立了约雅斤的叔叔西底家，作犹大和耶路撒冷的王。

他们把它放进笼里，用钩子带到巴比伦王那里，囚在狱中，使它的声音在以色列众山上不再听见。“‘你的母亲像葡萄园里（按照《马索拉文本》，“葡萄园里”作“在你血中”；现参照其他抄本和《七十士译本》翻译）的一棵葡萄树，栽种在水边；因为水源充足，结果累累、枝叶茂盛。它有粗壮的树枝可作掌权者的杖；它树身高大，超乎其他茂密枝叶之上；因为它树身高大，枝子众多，远远就可以看见。但这葡萄树因神的烈怒被拔起，摔在地上；东风使它的果子枯干散掉，粗壮的树枝枯槁，被火吞灭。现在它被栽种在旷野，在干旱无水之地。有火从树枝中的一根发出，吞灭树的果子，以致树上再没有粗壮的树枝，可以作掌权者的杖。’这是一首哀歌，是一首流行的哀歌。”
