他的臣仆把他的尸体从米吉多用马车运载，送到耶路撒冷，把他埋葬在他自己的坟墓里。国民选举约西亚的儿子约哈斯，膏了他，立他接续他父亲作王。约哈斯登基时是二十三岁，他在耶路撒冷作王三个月。他母亲名叫哈慕他，是立拿人耶利米的女儿。他行耶和华看为恶的事，好像他的祖先所行的。法老尼哥把他囚禁在哈马地的利比拉，使他不能在耶路撒冷作王；又罚了犹大国三千公斤银子和三十公斤金子。法老尼哥另立约西亚的儿子以利雅敬接续他的父亲约西亚作王，改了他的名字作约雅敬。他俘掳了约哈斯，把他带到埃及，他就死在那里。

因此，论到犹大王约西亚的儿子约雅敬，耶和华这样说：“人必不为他哀伤，说：‘哀哉，我哥哥！’‘哀哉，我姊姊！’人必不为他哀伤，说：‘哀哉，主上！’‘哀哉，尊荣的王！’

弓箭手射中了约西亚王；王对他的臣仆说：“你们把我带走吧，因为我受了重伤。”他的臣仆把他从战车上扶下来，放在他的第二辆战车上，把他送回耶路撒冷去，他跟着就死了，埋葬在他列祖的坟墓里。犹大和耶路撒冷的众人都为约西亚哀悼。耶利米为约西亚作了哀歌；所有歌唱的男女都唱哀歌，哀悼约西亚，直到今日；甚至在以色列中成了定例。这歌记在哀歌书上。

因此，看哪，我要使你归到你的祖先那里，你必平平安安地葬在你的坟墓里；你不会看见我要降在这地的一切灾祸。’”他们就把这话向王回报。
