我的百姓遭毀滅時，慈母親手煮自己的兒女充饑。

「耶和華啊，求你看看，你曾這樣對付過誰呢？母親豈能吃自己的孩子？祭司和先知豈能在主的聖所中被殺？

「當你們被敵人圍困、陷入絕境時，你們必吃自己的親生骨肉——你們的上帝耶和華賜給你們的兒女。因為被敵人困在城中，饑餓難熬，連你們中間最溫柔體貼的男人也要獨自吞吃子女的肉，不肯分給自己的兄弟、愛妻和剩下的兒女。

一天，以色列王從城牆上走過，一個婦人向他哭喊道：「我主我王啊，求你幫幫我！」王說：「如果耶和華不幫助你，我怎能幫助你呢？我既無糧也無酒。你有什麼難處呢？」婦人說：「這個女人對我說，『我們今天吃你兒子，明天再吃我兒子。』於是我們把我兒子煮了吃。第二天我叫她把她兒子交出來，她卻把兒子藏了起來。」
