我因這些事怎能不懲罰他們呢？像這樣的國家，我怎能不親自報復呢？”這是耶和華的宣告。我要為眾山哭泣哀號，為曠野的草場唱哀歌；因為都已成為荒涼，無人經過，也聽不到牲畜的叫聲；無論空中的飛鳥，地上的走獸，都逃走跑掉了。“我要使耶路撒冷變成亂堆，成為野狗的巢穴；我要使猶大的城市荒涼，無人居住。”

包括耶路撒冷、猶大的城鎮，和她的君王、領袖，使這些城鎮荒廢，成為令人驚駭、被人嗤笑、咒罵的對象，好像今天一樣。
