For they have forsaken me and made this a place of foreign gods; they have burned incense in it to gods that neither they nor their ancestors nor the kings of Judah ever knew, and they have filled this place with the blood of the innocent.

My people have deserted me. They have made this city a place where other gods are worshiped. They have burned incense to them here. They, their people of long ago and the kings of Judah had never known these gods. My people have also filled this place with the blood of those who aren’t guilty.

Because the people have forsaken me and have profaned this place by making offerings in it to other gods whom neither they nor their fathers nor the kings of Judah have known; and because they have filled this place with the blood of innocents,

“‘ For Israel has forsaken me and turned this valley into a place of wickedness. The people burn incense to foreign gods— idols never before acknowledged by this generation, by their ancestors, or by the kings of Judah. And they have filled this place with the blood of innocent children.

On your clothes is found the lifeblood of the innocent poor, though you did not catch them breaking in. Yet in spite of all this (niv)

The Lord will send on you curses, confusion and rebuke in everything you put your hand to, until you are destroyed and come to sudden ruin because of the evil you have done in forsaking him. (niv)

Moreover, Manasseh also shed so much innocent blood that he filled Jerusalem from end to end— besides the sin that he had caused Judah to commit, so that they did evil in the eyes of the Lord. (niv)

“ But as for you who forsake the Lord and forget my holy mountain, who spread a table for Fortune and fill bowls of mixed wine for Destiny, (niv)

They abandoned the God who made them and rejected the Rock their Savior.They made him jealous with their foreign gods and angered him with their detestable idols.They sacrificed to false gods, which are not God— gods they had not known, gods that recently appeared, gods your ancestors did not fear.You deserted the Rock, who fathered you; you forgot the God who gave you birth.The Lord saw this and rejected them because he was angered by his sons and daughters.“ I will hide my face from them,” he said,“ and see what their end will be; for they are a perverse generation, children who are unfaithful.They made me jealous by what is no god and angered me with their worthless idols. I will make them envious by those who are not a people; I will make them angry by a nation that has no understanding.For a fire will be kindled by my wrath, one that burns down to the realm of the dead below. It will devour the earth and its harvests and set afire the foundations of the mountains.“ I will heap calamities on them and spend my arrows against them. (niv)

We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws.We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes and our ancestors, and to all the people of the land.“ Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame— the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, both near and far, in all the countries where you have scattered us because of our unfaithfulness to you.We and our kings, our princes and our ancestors are covered with shame, Lord, because we have sinned against you.The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him;we have not obeyed the Lord our God or kept the laws he gave us through his servants the prophets.All Israel has transgressed your law and turned away, refusing to obey you.“ Therefore the curses and sworn judgments written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, have been poured out on us, because we have sinned against you.You have fulfilled the words spoken against us and against our rulers by bringing on us great disaster. Under the whole heaven nothing has ever been done like what has been done to Jerusalem.Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come on us, yet we have not sought the favor of the Lord our God by turning from our sins and giving attention to your truth.The Lord did not hesitate to bring the disaster on us, for the Lord our God is righteous in everything he does; yet we have not obeyed him.“ Now, Lord our God, who brought your people out of Egypt with a mighty hand and who made for yourself a name that endures to this day, we have sinned, we have done wrong. Have you not brought this on yourselves by forsaking the Lord your God when he led you in the way? (niv)

Then the Lord will scatter you among all nations, from one end of the earth to the other. There you will worship other gods— gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your ancestors have known. (niv)

And the Lord said to Moses:“ You are going to rest with your ancestors, and these people will soon prostitute themselves to the foreign gods of the land they are entering. He removed from the entrance to the temple of the Lord the horses that the kings of Judah had dedicated to the sun. They were in the court near the room of an official named Nathan-Melek. Josiah then burned the chariots dedicated to the sun.He pulled down the altars the kings of Judah had erected on the roof near the upper room of Ahaz, and the altars Manasseh had built in the two courts of the temple of the Lord. He removed them from there, smashed them to pieces and threw the rubble into the Kidron Valley. (niv)

for they have shed the blood of your holy people and your prophets, and you have given them blood to drink as they deserve.” (niv)

Therefore I am sending you prophets and sages and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. “ But your eyes and your heart are set only on dishonest gain, on shedding innocent blood and on oppression and extortion.” (niv)

‘ This is what the Lord says: I am going to bring disaster on this place and its people, according to everything written in the book the king of Judah has read.Because they have forsaken me and burned incense to other gods and aroused my anger by all the idols their hands have made, my anger will burn against this place and will not be quenched.’ (niv)

Yet my people have forgotten me; they burn incense to worthless idols, which made them stumble in their ways, in the ancient paths. They made them walk in byways, on roads not built up. (niv)

The Lord will drive you and the king you set over you to a nation unknown to you or your ancestors. There you will worship other gods, gods of wood and stone. (niv)

Therefore this generation will be held responsible for the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the beginning of the world, (niv)

But it happened because of the sins of her prophets and the iniquities of her priests, who shed within her the blood of the righteous. (niv)

The Babylonians who are attacking this city will come in and set it on fire; they will burn it down, along with the houses where the people aroused my anger by burning incense on the roofs to Baal and by pouring out drink offerings to other gods.“ The people of Israel and Judah have done nothing but evil in my sight from their youth; indeed, the people of Israel have done nothing but arouse my anger with what their hands have made, declares the Lord.From the day it was built until now, this city has so aroused my anger and wrath that I must remove it from my sight.The people of Israel and Judah have provoked me by all the evil they have done— they, their kings and officials, their priests and prophets, the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem.They turned their backs to me and not their faces; though I taught them again and again, they would not listen or respond to discipline.They set up their vile images in the house that bears my Name and defiled it.They built high places for Baal in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to sacrifice their sons and daughters to Molek, though I never commanded— nor did it enter my mind— that they should do such a detestable thing and so make Judah sin. then say to them,‘ It is because your ancestors forsook me,’ declares the Lord,‘ and followed other gods and served and worshiped them. They forsook me and did not keep my law. (niv)

“ In vain I punished your people; they did not respond to correction. Your sword has devoured your prophets like a ravenous lion. (niv)

If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying,“ Let us go and worship other gods”( gods that neither you nor your ancestors have known, (niv)

They brought Uriah out of Egypt and took him to King Jehoiakim, who had him struck down with a sword and his body thrown into the burial place of the common people.) (niv)

Therefore a lion from the forest will attack them, a wolf from the desert will ravage them, a leopard will lie in wait near their towns to tear to pieces any who venture out, for their rebellion is great and their backslidings many. (niv)

that troublemakers have arisen among you and have led the people of their town astray, saying,“ Let us go and worship other gods”( gods you have not known), (niv)
