譬彼林木、植於溪旁、根延河畔、雖經炎熱、雖歷亢陽、不受其害、枝葉青蒼、結果不息。

They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

耶和华也必时常引导你，在干旱之地使你心满意足，骨头强壮。你必像浇灌的园子，又像水流不绝的泉源。

众水使它生长；深水使它长大。所栽之地有江河围流，汊出的水道延到田野诸树。所以它高大超过田野诸树；发旺的时候，枝子繁多，因得大水之力枝条长长。空中的飞鸟都在枝子上搭窝；田野的走兽都在枝条下生子；所有大国的人民都在它荫下居住。树大条长，成为荣美，因为根在众水之旁。神园中的香柏树不能遮蔽它；松树不及它的枝子；枫树不及它的枝条；神园中的树都没有它荣美。我使它的枝条蕃多，成为荣美，以致神伊甸园中的树都嫉妒它。”所以主耶和华如此说：“因它高大，树尖插入云中，心骄气傲，

在河这边与那边的岸上必生长各类的树木；其果可作食物，叶子不枯干，果子不断绝。每月必结新果子，因为这水是从圣所流出来的。树上的果子必作食物，叶子乃为治病。”

你却高举了我的角，如野牛的角；我是被新油膏了的。我眼睛看见仇敌遭报；我耳朵听见那些起来攻击我的恶人受罚。义人要发旺如棕树，生长如黎巴嫩的香柏树。他们栽于耶和华的殿中，发旺在我们神的院里。他们年老的时候仍要结果子，要满了汁浆而常发青，好显明耶和华是正直的。他是我的磐石，在他毫无不义。

他在日光之下发青，蔓子爬满了园子；

耶和华论到干旱之灾的话临到耶利米：“犹大悲哀，城门衰败。众人披上黑衣坐在地上；耶路撒冷的哀声上达。他们的贵胄打发家僮打水；他们来到水池，见没有水，就拿着空器皿，蒙羞惭愧，抱头而回。耕地的也蒙羞抱头；因为无雨降在地上，地都干裂。田野的母鹿生下小鹿，就撇弃，因为无草。野驴站在净光的高处，喘气好像野狗；因为无草，眼目失明。”
