For as a belt is bound around the waist, so I bound all the people of Israel and all the people of Judah to me,’ declares the Lord,‘ to be my people for my renown and praise and honor. But they have not listened.’

A belt is tied around a person’s waist. In the same way, I tied all the people of Israel to me. I also tied all the people of Judah to me like a belt. I wanted them to be my people. They should have brought me fame and praise and honor. But they have not listened to me,” announces the Lord.

For as the loincloth clings to the waist of a man, so I made the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah cling to me, declares the Lord, that they might be for me a people, a name, a praise, and a glory, but they would not listen.

As a loincloth clings to a man’s waist, so I created Judah and Israel to cling to me, says the Lord. They were to be my people, my pride, my glory— an honor to my name. But they would not listen to me.

Just as underwear clings to one’s waist, so I fastened the whole house of Israel and of Judah to me”— this is the LORD’s declaration—“ so that they might be my people for my fame, praise, and glory, but they would not obey.

For as the undergarment clings to the waist of a man, so I made the entire household of Israel and the entire household of Judah cling to Me,’ declares the Lord,‘ so that they might be My people, for renown, for praise, and for glory; but they did not listen.’

For as the sash clings to the waist of a man, so I have caused the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to cling to Me,’ says the Lord,‘ that they may become My people, for renown, for praise, and for glory; but they would not hear.’

For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith Jehovah; that they may be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.

For,’ I say,‘ just as shorts cling tightly to a person’s body, so I bound the whole nation of Israel and the whole nation of Judah tightly to me.’ I intended for them to be my special people and to bring me fame, honor, and praise. But they would not obey me.

For as the belt clings to the waist of a man, so I have caused the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to cling to me,’ says Yahweh;‘ that they may be to me for a people, for a name, for praise, and for glory; but they would not hear.’

我的子民卻不肯聽我的話，以色列不願意順從我。

耶和華今天已經照祂的應許宣稱你們是祂的子民，是祂寶貴的產業。因此，你們要遵守祂的一切誡命，

耶和華說：「我為你們設立守望者，提醒你們要聽號角聲。」但你們卻說：「我們不聽。」

「在荒涼的曠野，在野獸吼叫的荒野，耶和華找到他們，庇護他們，看顧他們，保護他們如同保護眼中的瞳人，又如老鷹攪動窩巢，盤旋在雛鷹之上，展開雙翼，背著雛鷹飛翔。耶和華獨自帶領他們，身邊沒有外族神明。耶和華使他們馳騁在大地的高處，吃田間的五穀，磐石中的蜂蜜，石頭地產的油；吃牛酪和羊奶，肥美的羔羊，巴珊的綿羊和山羊，上好的麥子；喝葡萄汁釀的酒。「但耶書崙吃飽喝足，養肥長壯後，就得意忘形，背棄造他們的上帝，藐視救他們的磐石。

祂揀選雅各做祂的子民，揀選以色列作祂的產業。

這邪惡的百姓拒絕聽我的話，一意孤行，跟隨、供奉、祭拜別的神明，他們將像這腰帶一樣毫無用處。

他們將被稱為聖民，是耶和華救贖的人。你將被稱為蒙眷愛、不再被撇棄的城。

我們的上帝耶和華與我們如此親近，隨時垂聽我們的呼求，有哪個偉大民族的神明能與之相比？

差我來的父曾親自為我做過見證。你們從未聽過祂的聲音，從未見過祂，心裡也沒有祂的道，因為你們不信祂所差來的那位。你們研讀聖經，以為從聖經中可以得到永生。其實為我做見證的正是這聖經，但你們卻不肯到我這裡來得生命。

但你們掩耳不聽，頑固不化，比你們的祖先更邪惡。

你曾在埃及行神蹟奇事，現今仍在以色列和世界各地行神蹟奇事，使自己威名遠揚，直到今日。

但你們是蒙揀選的族群，是君尊的祭司，是聖潔的國度，是上帝的子民，因此你們可以宣揚上帝的美德。祂曾呼召你們離開黑暗，進入祂奇妙的光明。

祂未曾這樣對待其他國家，他們不知道祂的律法。你們要讚美耶和華！
