Those are the terms that I charged your ancestors to keep when I brought them out of Egypt, that place which was like an iron-smelting furnace. I said at that time,“ Obey me and carry out the terms of the agreement exactly as I commanded you. If you do, you will be my people and I will be your God.

I gave those terms to your people of long ago. That was when I brought them out of Egypt. I saved them out of that furnace that melts down iron and makes it pure.’ I said,‘ Obey me. Do everything I command you to do. Then you will be my people. And I will be your God.

You, however, the LORD has selected and brought from Egypt, that iron- smelting furnace, to be his special people as you are today.

I will walk among you, and I will be your God and you will be my people.

Consider this: When I spoke to your ancestors after I brought them out of Egypt, I did not merely give them commands about burnt offerings and sacrifices.I also explicitly commanded them:“ Obey me. If you do, I will be your God and you will be my people. Live exactly the way I tell you and things will go well with you.”

And I will bring them to settle within Jerusalem. They will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and righteousness.’

I will give them the desire to acknowledge that I am the LORD. I will be their God and they will be my people. For they will wholeheartedly return to me.’

After all, they are your people and your special possession whom you brought out of Egypt, from the middle of the iron-smelting furnace.

Then you will live in the land I gave to your fathers; you will be my people, and I will be your God.

the blessing if you take to heart the commandments of the LORD your God that I am giving you today,

so that the house of Israel will no longer go astray from me, nor continue to defile themselves by all their sins. They will be my people and I will be their God, declares the sovereign LORD.’”

Then you will again be my people and I will be your God.

“ Indeed, a time is coming,” says the LORD,“ when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah.It will not be like the old covenant that I made with their ancestors when I delivered them from Egypt. For they violated that covenant, even though I was like a faithful husband to them,” says the LORD.“ But I will make a new covenant with the whole nation of Israel after I plant them back in the land,” says the LORD.“ I will put my law within them and write it on their hearts and minds. I will be their God and they will be my people.

But correct the way you have been living and do what is right. Obey the LORD your God. If you do, the LORD will forgo destroying you as he threatened he would.

Moses came and told the people all the LORD’s words and all the decisions. All the people answered together,“ We are willing to do all the words that the LORD has said,”and Moses wrote down all the words of the LORD. Early in the morning he built an altar at the foot of the mountain and arranged twelve standing stones– according to the twelve tribes of Israel.He sent young Israelite men, and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed young bulls for peace offerings to the LORD.Moses took half of the blood and put it in bowls, and half of the blood he splashed on the altar.He took the Book of the Covenant and read it aloud to the people, and they said,“ We are willing to do and obey all that the LORD has spoken.”So Moses took the blood and splashed it on the people and said,“ This is the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words.”

They will not defile themselves with their idols, their detestable things, and all their rebellious deeds. I will save them from all their unfaithfulness by which they sinned. I will purify them; they will become my people and I will become their God.

I will give the whole land of Canaan– the land where you are now residing– to you and your descendants after you as a permanent possession. I will be their God.”

“‘ If you walk in my statutes and are sure to obey my commandments,

Then I will bring the remaining third into the fire; I will refine them like silver is refined and will test them like gold is tested. They will call on my name and I will answer; I will say,‘ These are my people,’ and they will say,‘ The LORD is my God.’”

And what mutual agreement does the temple of God have with idols? For we are the temple of the living God, just as God said,“ I will live in them and will walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.”

But showing its fault, God says to them,“ Look, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will complete a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.“ It will not be like the covenant that I made with their fathers, on the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not continue in my covenant and I had no regard for them, says the Lord.“ For this is the covenant that I will establish with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and I will inscribe them on their hearts. And I will be their God and they will be my people.

so that they may follow my statutes and observe my regulations and carry them out. Then they will be my people, and I will be their God.

“ If you indeed obey the LORD your God and are careful to observe all his commandments I am giving you today, the LORD your God will elevate you above all the nations of the earth.All these blessings will come to you in abundance if you obey the LORD your God:You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the field.Your children will be blessed, as well as the produce of your soil, the offspring of your livestock, the calves of your herds, and the lambs of your flocks.Your basket and your mixing bowl will be blessed.You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.The LORD will cause your enemies who attack you to be struck down before you; they will attack you from one direction but flee from you in seven different directions.The LORD will decree blessing for you with respect to your barns and in everything you do– yes, he will bless you in the land he is giving you.The LORD will designate you as his holy people just as he promised you, if you keep his commandments and obey him.Then all the peoples of the earth will see that you belong to the LORD, and they will respect you.The LORD will greatly multiply your children, the offspring of your livestock, and the produce of your soil in the land which he promised your ancestors he would give you.The LORD will open for you his good treasure house, the heavens, to give you rain for the land in its season and to bless all you do; you will lend to many nations but you will not borrow from any.The LORD will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always end up at the top and not at the bottom, if you obey his commandments which I am urging you today to be careful to do.But you must not turn away from all the commandments I am giving you today, to either the right or left, nor pursue other gods and worship them.

My dwelling place will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my people.

Therefore I, the LORD, say:‘ I will indeed hand this city over to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon and the Babylonian army. They will capture it.

Take heed because of him, and obey his voice; do not rebel against him, for he will not pardon your transgressions, for my name is in him.But if you diligently obey him and do all that I command, then I will be an enemy to your enemies, and I will be an adversary to your adversaries.

teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Then those who are far away will come and build the temple of the LORD so that you may know that the LORD who rules over all has sent me to you. This will all come to pass if you completely obey the voice of the LORD your God.”’”

On that day I swore to bring them out of the land of Egypt to a land which I had picked out for them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands.I said to them,“ Each of you must get rid of the detestable idols you keep before you, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt; I am the LORD your God.”But they rebelled against me, and refused to listen to me; no one got rid of their detestable idols, nor did they abandon the idols of Egypt. Then I decided to pour out my rage on them and fully vent my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.I acted for the sake of my reputation, so that I would not be profaned before the nations among whom they lived, before whom I revealed myself by bringing them out of the land of Egypt.“‘ So I brought them out of the land of Egypt and led them to the wilderness.I gave them my statutes and revealed my regulations to them. The one who carries them out will live by them!I also gave them my Sabbaths as a reminder of our relationship, so that they would know that I, the LORD, sanctify them.

You are standing today, all of you, before the LORD your God– the heads of your tribes, your elders, your officials, every Israelite man,your infants, your wives, and the foreigners living in your encampment, those who chop wood and those who carry water–so that you may enter by oath into the covenant the LORD your God is making with you today.Today he will affirm that you are his people and that he is your God, just as he promised you and as he swore by oath to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.It is not with you alone that I am making this covenant by oath,but with whoever stands with us here today before the LORD our God as well as those not with us here today.

Then Samuel said,“ Does the LORD take pleasure in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as he does in obedience? Certainly, obedience is better than sacrifice; paying attention is better than the fat of rams.

and showing covenant faithfulness to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

And by being perfected in this way, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him,

The LORD our God made a covenant with us at Horeb.He did not make this covenant with our ancestors but with us, we who are here today, all of us living now.

Look, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have purified you in the furnace of misery.
