Pour out your wrath on the nations that do not acknowledge you, on the peoples who do not call on your name. For they have devoured Jacob; they have devoured him completely and destroyed his homeland.

Pour out your great anger on the nations. They don’t pay any attention to you. They refuse to worship you. They have destroyed the people of Jacob. They’ve wiped them out completely. They’ve also destroyed the land they lived in.

Pour out your wrath on the nations that know you not, and on the peoples that call not on your name, for they have devoured Jacob; they have devoured him and consumed him, and have laid waste his habitation.

Pour out your wrath on the nations that refuse to acknowledge you— on the peoples that do not call upon your name. For they have devoured your people Israel; they have devoured and consumed them, making the land a desolate wilderness.

The snorting of the enemy’s horses is already being heard in the city of Dan. The sound of the neighing of their stallions causes the whole land to tremble with fear. They are coming to destroy the land and everything in it! They are coming to destroy the cities and everyone who lives in them!”

All those who behave wickedly do not understand– those who devour my people as if they were eating bread, and do not call out to the LORD.

‘ Surely such is the residence of an evil man; and this is the place of one who has not known God.’”

With flaming fire he will mete out punishment on those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.

All who encountered them devoured them. Their enemies who did this said,‘ We are not liable for punishment! For those people have sinned against the LORD, their true pasture. They have sinned against the LORD in whom their ancestors trusted.’

When evil men attack me to devour my flesh, when my adversaries and enemies attack me, they stumble and fall.

“ The people of Israel are like scattered sheep which lions have chased away. First the king of Assyria devoured them. Now last of all King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon has gnawed their bones.

But I am greatly displeased with the nations that take my grace for granted. I was a little displeased with them, but they have only made things worse for themselves.

“ Because you violently slaughtered your relatives, the people of Jacob, shame will cover you, and you will be destroyed forever.You stood aloof while strangers took his army captive, and foreigners advanced to his gates. When they cast lots over Jerusalem, you behaved as though you were in league with them.You should not have gloated when your relatives suffered calamity. You should not have rejoiced over the people of Judah when they were destroyed. You should not have boasted when they suffered adversity.You should not have entered the city of my people when they experienced distress. You should not have joined in gloating over their misfortune when they suffered distress. You should not have looted their wealth when they endured distress.You should not have stood at the fork in the road to slaughter those trying to escape. You should not have captured their refugees when they suffered adversity.“ For the day of the LORD is approaching for all the nations! Just as you have done, so it will be done to you. You will get exactly what your deeds deserve.For just as you have drunk on my holy mountain, so all the nations will drink continually. They will drink, and they will gulp down; they will be as though they had never been.

not in lustful passion like the Gentiles who do not know God.

For this is what the sovereign LORD says: Because you clapped your hands, stamped your feet, and rejoiced with intense scorn over the land of Israel,take note, I have stretched out my hand against you, and I will hand you over as plunder to the nations. I will cut you off from the peoples and make you perish from the lands. I will destroy you; then you will know that I am the LORD.’”“ This is what the sovereign LORD says:‘ Moab and Seir say,“ Look, the house of Judah is like all the other nations.”

and those who turn their backs on the LORD and do not want the LORD’s help or guidance.”

Righteous Father, even if the world does not know you, I know you, and these men know that you sent me.

Sober up as you should, and stop sinning! For some have no knowledge of God– I say this to your shame!

Therefore you must wait patiently for me,” says the LORD,“ for the day when I attack and take plunder. I have decided to gather nations together and assemble kingdoms, so I can pour out my fury on them– all my raging anger. For the whole earth will be consumed by my fiery anger.

“ But you did not call for me, O Jacob; you did not long for me, O Israel.

No one invokes your name, or makes an effort to take hold of you. For you have rejected us and handed us over to our own sins.

As if it were a feast day, you call enemies to terrify me on every side. On the day of the Lord’s anger no one escaped or survived. My enemy has finished off those healthy infants whom I bore and raised.

“ King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon devoured me and drove my people out. Like a monster from the deep he swallowed me. He filled his belly with my riches. He made me an empty dish. He completely cleaned me out.”The person who lives in Zion says,“ May Babylon pay for the violence done to me and to my relatives.” Jerusalem says,“ May those living in Babylonia pay for the bloodshed of my people.”

For as I went around and observed closely your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription:‘ To an unknown god.’ Therefore what you worship without knowing it, this I proclaim to you.

“‘ You have shown unrelenting hostility and poured the people of Israel onto the blades of a sword at the time of their calamity, at the time of their final punishment.Therefore, as surely as I live, declares the sovereign LORD, I will subject you to bloodshed, and bloodshed will pursue you. Since you did not hate bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you.I will turn Mount Seir into a desolate ruin; I will cut off from it the one who passes through or returns.I will fill its mountains with its dead; on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines, those killed by the sword will fall.I will turn you into a perpetual desolation, and your cities will not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am the LORD.“‘ You said,“ These two nations, these two lands will be mine, and we will possess them,”– although the LORD was there–
