耶和华如此说：“你去买陶匠的瓷瓶，你和百姓中的长老、位尊的祭司出去到欣嫩子谷、哈珥西的门口，在那里宣告我所吩咐你的话，说：‘犹大君王和耶路撒冷的居民哪，当听耶和华的话。万军之耶和华—以色列的上帝如此说：看哪，我必使灾祸临到这地方，凡听见的人都必耳鸣；因为他们和他们祖先，并犹大君王都离弃我，使这地方与我疏远，在这里向素不认识的别神烧香，又使这地方遍满无辜人的血。他们建造巴力的丘坛，要在火中焚烧自己的儿女，作为燔祭献给巴力。这不是我命令的，不是我吩咐的，我心里也从来没有想过。因此，看哪，日子将到，这地方不再称为陀斐特和欣嫩子谷，反倒称为杀戮谷。这是耶和华说的。我要在这地方使犹大和耶路撒冷的计谋落空，也必使他们在仇敌面前倒在刀下，倒在寻索其命的人手下。我要把他们的尸首给空中的飞鸟和地上的走兽作食物。我必使这城令人惊骇嘲笑；凡路过的，必因这城所遭的灾难惊骇嘲笑。仇敌和寻索其命的人追逼他们，使他们落在围困窘迫之中，我必使他们各人吃自己儿女的肉和朋友的肉。’“你要在跟你同去的人眼前打碎那瓶，对他们说：‘万军之耶和华如此说：我要打碎这民和这城，正如人打碎陶匠的器皿，不能再使其完整。他们要在陀斐特埋葬，甚至无处可葬。

因为你们自己明明知道，主的日子来到会像贼在夜间突然来到一样。

半夜有人喊：‘看，新郎来了，你们出来迎接他。’

于是基甸将三百人分成三队，把角和空瓶交在每个人手中，瓶内有火把。

你必用铁杖打破他们，把他们如同陶匠的瓦器摔碎。”

破晓时分，耶和华从云柱、火柱中瞭望埃及的军兵，使埃及的军兵混乱。

看哪，我来像贼一样。那警醒、穿着衣服的人有福了；他不至于赤身而行，给人看见他的羞耻。
