不可和他們結親；不可將你的女兒嫁給他們的兒子，也不可使你的兒子娶他們的女兒。因為他會使你的兒子偏離、而不跟從我，反而去事奉別的神，以致永恆主向你們發怒，而迅速消滅你們。

那些日子我也見了猶大人娶亞實突、亞捫、摩押的女子為妻。他們的兒女有一半說着亞實突語，不曉得說猶大語；所說的是照一族一族的方言。我就譴責他們，咒罵他們，擊打了他們幾個人，拔下他們的頭髮，叫他們指着上帝來起誓：我說：『你們決不可將自己的女兒嫁給他們的兒子，也決不可為兒子或自己娶他們的女兒。以色列王所羅門豈不是在這樣的事上犯了罪麼？在許多國之中並沒有一個王能比得上他呀；他並且是蒙他的上帝所愛的，上帝曾立了他做王來管理以色列呀；然而連他也被外籍女人所引誘而去犯罪。難道我們所該聽的是你們，來行這一切大壞事，娶外籍女人為妻，來對我們的上帝不忠實麼？』

所羅門王愛上了許多外籍女子：像法老的女兒、摩押女子、亞捫女子、以東女子、西頓女子、赫人女子等。關於這些國的人、永恆主曾經對以色列人說：『你們不可去在他們中間，他們也不可來在你們中間：因為他們的確會使你們的心偏離、去隨從他們的神』；但所羅門卻戀慕着這些女子、而愛了她們。所羅門有七百個后妃、公主；還有三百個嬪妃；他的妻妾使他的心偏離了。所羅門年老的時候、他的妻妾使他的心偏離、去隨從別的神；他的心總不純全全地歸向永恆主他的上帝，不像他父親大衛那樣。因為所羅門隨從西頓人的女神亞斯他錄、和亞捫人可憎的神米勒公。
