那些日子，我也发现有些犹大人娶了亚实突、亚扪和摩押的女子为妻。他们的儿女有一半说亚实突话，其他就说他们民族的语言，他们却不会说犹大话。我就责备他们，咒诅他们，击打他们中间的几个人，拔下他们的头发，叫他们指着神起誓，说：“你们决不可把自己的女儿嫁给他们的儿子，也决不可为儿子或为自己娶他们的女儿。以色列王所罗门不是在这些事上犯了罪吗？在许多国中并没有一个王能比得上他的；他蒙他的神所爱，神立他作全以色列的王，可是连他也被外族的女子引诱犯罪。难道我们要听从你们，行这大恶，娶外族的女子为妻，对我们神不忠吗？”

所罗门王除了法老的女儿以外，又宠爱许多外族女子，就是摩押女子、亚扪女子、以东女子、西顿女子和赫人女子等。关于这些国家的人，耶和华曾经吩咐以色列人：“你们不可与他们往来通婚，否则他们必会引诱你们的心，去随从他们的神。”但所罗门深深爱恋这些女子。所罗门有妃七百，都是公主；有嫔三百。他的妃嫔使他的心偏离了神。所罗门年老的时候，他的妃嫔诱惑他的心偏离了神去随从别的神。他的心不像他的父亲大卫那样完全归于耶和华他的神。因为所罗门随从西顿人的女神亚斯他录，和亚扪人可憎的偶像米勒公。
