Ehud then approached him while he was sitting alone in the upper room of his palace and said,“ I have a message from God for you.” As the king rose from his seat,

Then Ehud approached him. King Eglon was sitting alone in the upstairs room of his palace. Ehud said,“ I have a message from God for you.” So the king got up from his seat.

And Ehud came to him as he was sitting alone in his cool roof chamber. And Ehud said,“ I have a message from God for you.” And he arose from his seat.

Ehud walked over to Eglon, who was sitting alone in a cool upstairs room. And Ehud said,“ I have a message from God for you!” As King Eglon rose from his seat,

Then Ehud approached him while he was sitting alone in his upstairs room where it was cool. Ehud said,“ I have a message from God for you,” and the king stood up from his throne.

Then Ehud came to him while he was sitting in his cool roof chamber alone. And Ehud said,“ I have a message from God for you.” And he got up from his seat.

So Ehud came to him( now he was sitting upstairs in his cool private chamber). Then Ehud said,“ I have a message from God for you.” So he arose from his seat.

And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting by himself alone in the cool upper room. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat.

Then Ehud approached him while he was sitting alone in his room upstairs where it was cool. Ehud said,“ I have a word from God for you,” and the king stood up from his throne.

And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlour, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of[ his] seat.

When Ehud approached him, he was sitting in his well-ventilated upper room all by himself. Ehud said,“ I have a message from God for you.” When Eglon rose up from his seat,

Ehud came to him; and he was sitting by himself alone in the cool upper room. Ehud said,“ I have a message from God to you.” He arose out of his seat.

我必擊毁過冬的房屋、和過夏的房屋；象牙的房屋必毁壞，高大的房屋必歸於無有』：永恆主發神諭說。

萬國的王啊，誰不敬畏你呢？敬畏你很合宜；因為在列國所有的智慧人當中，在他們一切王權的尊榮中，也沒有誰能比得上你。

將榮耀能力歸與永恆主哦！眾神子啊，將這歸與永恆主哦！

聽啊，永恆主向這城呼叫呢！敬畏他的名是最有效的智慧；這城的支派和議會啊，聽哦！

『你去告訴大衛說：「永恆主這麼說：我提出三樣災要降於你，隨你選擇一樣，我好向你施行。」』

於是永恆主差遣拿單去見大衛。拿單到了大衛那裏，對他說：『在一座城裏有兩個人；一個富足，一個窮乏。那富足的有羊羣牛羣極多；那窮乏的甚麼也沒有，只有一隻小母羊羔、就是他所買來養活的；這小羊羔在他家裏和他兒女一同長大；喫他所喫的那一點點食物，喝他杯中所有的，睡在他懷中，在他看來就像女兒一樣。有一個旅行的人來到這富人家裏；富人捨不得從自己的羊羣牛羣中取一隻來豫備給那行路的客人喫，卻取了那窮乏人的羊羔去豫備給那客人喫。』大衛就大大惱怒那人，對拿單說：『我指着永活的永恆主來起誓，行這事的人是該死的；他必須償還那羊羔四倍，因為他行了這事，又因為他沒有顧惜別人的心。拿單對大衛說：『你、你就是那人：永恆主以色列的上帝這麼說：「我、我膏立了你做王來管理以色列；我援救了你脫離掃羅的手；我將你主上的家業賜給你，將你主上的妻子交在你懷中；又將以色列家和猶大家賜給你；若太少了，我還要將這樣將那樣加給你呢。你為甚麼藐視永恆主的話，行他所看為壞的事；將赫人烏利亞用刀擊殺，而娶了他的妻做你的妻子，借亞捫人的刀去殺害他呢？現在呢、你既藐視了我，娶了赫人烏利亞的妻做你的妻子，刀劍就永不離開你的家。」永恆主這麼說：「看吧，我必從你家中興起禍患來攻擊你；我必將你的妃嬪在你眼前賜給你的鄰舍；他必在這日光的鑒察下就和你的妃嬪同寢。你在暗中行事，我卻要在以色列眾人面前、在日光之前行這報應。」』大衛對拿單說：『我犯罪得罪了永恆主了。』拿單對大衛說：『永恆主也已不追究你的罪了；你是不至於死的。不過你行這事大大地褻慢了永恆主；故此你所得的這孩子也必定死。』說了這些話，拿單就回家去了。永恆主擊打了烏利亞的妻子給大衛所生的孩子、使他得重病。

自己卻從靠近吉甲的眾雕像那裏回來，說：『王啊，我有一件機密事要奏告你。』王說：『迴避。』於是左右站班的人都從他面前退出去。
