Everyone who saw it was saying to one another,“ Such a thing has never been seen or done, not since the day the Israelites came up out of Egypt. Just imagine! We must do something! So speak up!”

The Israelites sampled their provisions but did not inquire of the Lord.

not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world.But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?

Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say,“ Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine,you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.”

Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough?

It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife.

Surely you need guidance to wage war, and victory is won through many advisers.

You are the children of the Lord your God. Do not cut yourselves or shave the front of your heads for the dead,for you are a people holy to the Lord your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the Lord has chosen you to be his treasured possession.

Plans are established by seeking advice; so if you wage war, obtain guidance.
