当天晚上，耶和华吩咐基甸说：“起来，下去攻打敌营吧！我已把敌人交在你手中了。

因为你们的上帝耶和华从各支派中拣选了利未人，让他们世代奉祂的名事奉。

亚伦的儿子以利亚撒也死了，他们把他葬在他儿子非尼哈分到的以法莲山区的基比亚。

那时，耶和华把利未支派分别出来，派他们抬祂的约柜，站立在祂面前事奉祂，奉祂的名祝福，至今未变。

祭司非尼哈和以色列会众的族长听了他们的解释，都很满意。以利亚撒的儿子祭司非尼哈对他们说：“今日我们知道耶和华在我们当中，因为你们没有对耶和华不忠，现在你们使以色列人免遭耶和华的惩罚了。”以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈祭司和众族长便离开吕便人和迦得人，从基列回到迦南向以色列人报告这事。

大卫再求问耶和华，耶和华答道：“到基伊拉去吧，我一定把非利士人交在你手里。”于是，大卫和部下到基伊拉去攻打非利士人，大败敌人，夺取了他们的牲畜，救出基伊拉人。亚希米勒的儿子祭司亚比亚他到基伊拉投奔大卫时，把以弗得也带了去。扫罗得知大卫在基伊拉，就说：“这一次是上帝把他交在我手中了，因为他竟然自投网罗，进入有门有闩的城。”扫罗召集全军准备攻打基伊拉，围困大卫和他的部下。大卫知道了扫罗的计谋，便吩咐祭司亚比亚他把以弗得带来，然后说：“耶和华，以色列的上帝啊，仆人听说扫罗要来毁灭基伊拉，因为我在这里。基伊拉的人会不会把我交给扫罗呢？扫罗是不是像我听说的那样要来这里呢？耶和华，以色列的上帝啊，求你告诉我。”耶和华说：“扫罗一定会来。”大卫又问耶和华：“基伊拉的人会不会把我和我的部下交给扫罗呢？”耶和华说：“他们一定会。”

你们不用与他们交战，只要守住阵势，站立不动，看耶和华为你们施行拯救。犹大人和耶路撒冷人啊，不要恐惧，不要惊慌，明天只管出去迎敌，耶和华必与你们同在！’”

耶和华啊，人不能驾驭自己的命运，不能左右自己的将来。

你要全心信靠耶和华，不可倚靠自己的悟性。凡事都要寻求祂，祂必指引你走正路。

耶和华说：“犹大支派先去，我已把那片土地交在他们手中了。”

耶和华上帝就向乌撒发怒，因他的不敬而击杀了他。他死在了约柜旁边。大卫因耶和华击杀乌撒而烦恼，就称那地方为毗列斯·乌撒，沿用至今。那天，大卫惧怕耶和华，他说：“耶和华的约柜怎能运到我这里？”他不愿把耶和华的约柜运进大卫城，而是把它运到迦特人俄别·以东家。耶和华的约柜在俄别·以东家停放了三个月，耶和华赐福给俄别·以东和他全家。大卫听说耶和华因为约柜而赐福给俄别·以东全家及其一切所有，就满心欢喜地去把上帝的约柜从俄别·以东家接进大卫城。

约书亚说：“唉！主耶和华啊，你让我们过了约旦河，为什么把我们交在亚摩利人手上，让他们毁灭我们呢？倒不如让我们住在约旦河对岸！

以色列人派祭司以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈去基列见他们，

大卫求问耶和华，说：“我该追赶敌人吗？我能追上他们吗？”耶和华答道：“追赶他们吧，你必能追上他们，救回一切。”

大卫求问耶和华：“我可以去迎战非利士人吗？你会把他们交在我手里吗？”耶和华说：“去吧，我必把他们交在你手里。”大卫前往巴力·毗拉心，在那里打败了敌人。他说：“耶和华像洪水决堤一样为我冲垮了仇敌。”于是他称那地方为巴力·毗拉心。大卫和他的军队带走了非利士人所丢弃的神像。后来非利士人又卷土重来，散布在利乏音谷。大卫又求问耶和华，耶和华说：“你不要正面出击，要绕到他们后面，从桑林对面攻打他们。当你听见桑树梢上响起脚步声时，就要快速进攻，因为那表示耶和华已在你前头去攻击非利士的军队了。”

于是，扫罗求问上帝，说：“耶和华啊，我们可以去追杀非利士人吗？你会把他们交在以色列人手里吗？”但耶和华那日没有回答他。

亚伦祭司的孙子、以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈看见了，便起身离开会众，拿着矛枪，跟着进入那人的帐篷，一枪刺透那对男女的腹部。以色列人当中的瘟疫马上止住了，但已有两万四千人死于瘟疫。耶和华对摩西说：“亚伦祭司的孙子、以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈消了我对以色列人的怒气。因为在会众中他与我一样痛恨不贞，我才没有在烈怒中消灭他们。你告诉他，我要赐给他平安的约，使他和他的后代凭此约可以永远做祭司，因为他为我除掉了不贞之人，为以色列人赎了罪。”

他们把上帝的约柜从坐落在山上的亚比拿达家抬出来，放在一辆新造的牛车上，由亚比拿达的两个儿子乌撒和亚希约赶车，
