Then all Israel from Dan to Beersheba and from the land of Gilead came together as one and assembled before the Lord in Mizpah.

Then all the Israelites came out. They came from the whole land between Dan and Beersheba. They also came from the land of Gilead. All of them gathered together in front of the Lord at Mizpah.

Then all the people of Israel came out, from Dan to Beersheba, including the land of Gilead, and the congregation assembled as one man to the Lord at Mizpah.

Then all the Israelites were united as one man, from Dan in the north to Beersheba in the south, including those from across the Jordan in the land of Gilead. The entire community assembled in the presence of the Lord at Mizpah.

大衛就吩咐跟隨他的元帥約押說：「你去走遍以色列眾支派，從但直到別是巴，數點百姓，我好知道他們的數目。」

到了七月，以色列人住在自己的城裏。那時，他們如同一人聚集在水門前的寬闊處，請文士以斯拉將耶和華藉摩西傳給以色列人的律法書帶來。

撒母耳說：「要使以色列眾人聚集在米斯巴，我好為你們禱告耶和華。」他們就聚集在米斯巴，打水澆在耶和華面前，當日禁食，說：「我們得罪了耶和華。」於是撒母耳在米斯巴審判以色列人。

於是定了命令，傳遍以色列，從別是巴直到但，使他們都來，在耶路撒冷向耶和華－以色列的神守逾越節；因為照所寫的例，守這節的不多了。

瑪拿西是約瑟的長子，他的支派拈鬮所得之地記在下面。至於瑪拿西的長子基列之父瑪吉，因為是勇士就得了基列和巴珊。

立他作王，治理基列、亞書利、耶斯列、以法蓮、便雅憫，和以色列眾人。

以色列眾人就上到伯特利，坐在耶和華面前哭號，當日禁食直到晚上；又在耶和華面前獻燔祭和平安祭。

如此就挽回猶大眾人的心，如同一人的心。他們便打發人去見王，說：「請王和王的一切臣僕回來。」

照着他們始祖以色列之子但的名字，給那城起名叫但；原先那城名叫拉億。

到了七月，以色列人住在各城；那時他們如同一人，聚集在耶路撒冷。

以色列人就起來，到伯特利去求問神說：「我們中間誰當首先上去與便雅憫人爭戰呢？」耶和華說：「猶大當先上去。」

當時亞捫人聚集，安營在基列。以色列人也聚集，安營在米斯巴。

眾軍長和屬他們的人聽見巴比倫王立了基大利作省長，於是軍長尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利、加利亞的兒子約哈難、尼陀法人單戶蔑的兒子西萊雅、瑪迦人的兒子雅撒尼亞，和屬他們的人都到米斯巴見基大利。

眾民都起來如同一人，說：「我們連一人都不回自己帳棚、自己房屋去。

以色列民的首領，就是各支派的軍長，都站在神百姓的會中；拿刀的步兵共有四十萬。

呂便子孫和迦得子孫的牲畜極其眾多；他們看見雅謝地和基列地是可牧放牲畜之地，

他將一對牛切成塊子，託付使者傳送以色列的全境，說：「凡不出來跟隨掃羅和撒母耳的，也必這樣切開他的牛。」於是耶和華使百姓懼怕，他們就都出來，如同一人。掃羅在比色數點他們：以色列人有三十萬，猶大人有三萬。

「在耶和華－你神所賜你居住的各城中，你若聽人說，有些匪類從你們中間的一座城出來勾引本城的居民，說：『我們不如去事奉你們素來所不認識的別神』；
