勿與斯土之民立約、必毀其壇、而爾不聽我言、果何為哉、

爾與斯土之民、不可立約、必摧其壇、汝不遵命、果何為哉。

惟爾不可與斯地之居民立約、當毀其祭壇、爾竟不遵我言、爾何為哉、

and you shall not make a covenant with the people of this land, but you shall break down their altars.’ Yet you have disobeyed me. Why have you done this?

So you must not make a covenant with the people of this land. Instead, you must tear down their altars.’ But you have disobeyed me. Why did you do it?

and you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall break down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed my voice. What is this you have done?

For your part, you were not to make any covenants with the people living in this land; instead, you were to destroy their altars. But you disobeyed my command. Why did you do this?

You are not to make a covenant with the inhabitants of this land. You are to tear down their altars. But you have not obeyed me. What have you done?

and as for you, you shall not make a covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed Me; what is this thing that you have done?

And you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed My voice. Why have you done this?

and ye shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall break down their altars. But ye have not hearkened unto my voice: why have ye done this?

You are not to make a covenant with the people who are living in this land, and you are to tear down their altars. But you have not obeyed Me. What is this you have done?

And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?

but you must not make an agreement with the people who live in this land. You should tear down the altars where they worship.’ But you have disobeyed me. Why would you do such a thing?

You shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land. You shall break down their altars.’ But you have not listened to my voice. Why have you done this?

and when the Lord your God has delivered them over to you and you have defeated them, then you must destroy them totally. Make no treaty with them, and show them no mercy.Do not intermarry with them. Do not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons,for they will turn your children away from following me to serve other gods, and the Lord’s anger will burn against you and will quickly destroy you. (niv)

Why do you go about so much, changing your ways? You will be disappointed by Egypt as you were by Assyria. (niv)

This is what the Lord says:“ What fault did your ancestors find in me, that they strayed so far from me? They followed worthless idols and became worthless themselves. (niv)

For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? (niv)

“ But now, our God, what can we say after this? For we have forsaken the commandsyou gave through your servants the prophets when you said:‘ The land you are entering to possess is a land polluted by the corruption of its peoples. By their detestable practices they have filled it with their impurity from one end to the other.Therefore, do not give your daughters in marriage to their sons or take their daughters for your sons. Do not seek a treaty of friendship with them at any time, that you may be strong and eat the good things of the land and leave it to your children as an everlasting inheritance.’“ What has happened to us is a result of our evil deeds and our great guilt, and yet, our God, you have punished us less than our sins deserved and have given us a remnant like this. (niv)

They did not destroy the peoples as the Lord had commanded them,but they mingled with the nations and adopted their customs.They worshiped their idols, which became a snare to them.They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to false gods.They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was desecrated by their blood.They defiled themselves by what they did; by their deeds they prostituted themselves.Therefore the Lord was angry with his people and abhorred his inheritance. (niv)

However, in the cities of the nations the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes.Completely destroy them— the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites— as the Lord your God has commanded you.Otherwise, they will teach you to follow all the detestable things they do in worshiping their gods, and you will sin against the Lord your God. (niv)

And he said,“ Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”The man said,“ The woman you put here with me— she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.” (niv)

You must destroy all the peoples the Lord your God gives over to you. Do not look on them with pity and do not serve their gods, for that will be a snare to you. (niv)

Now why go to Egypt to drink water from the Nile? And why go to Assyria to drink water from the Euphrates? (niv)

Be careful not to make a treaty with those who live in the land where you are going, or they will be a snare among you.Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones and cut down their Asherah poles.Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.“ Be careful not to make a treaty with those who live in the land; for when they prostitute themselves to their gods and sacrifice to them, they will invite you and you will eat their sacrifices.And when you choose some of their daughters as wives for your sons and those daughters prostitute themselves to their gods, they will lead your sons to do the same. (niv)

The Lord said,“ What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. (niv)

drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you. Destroy all their carved images and their cast idols, and demolish all their high places.Take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land to possess. (niv)

Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel and said,“ Because this nation has violated the covenant I ordained for their ancestors and has not listened to me, (niv)

“ You of this generation, consider the word of the Lord:“ Have I been a desert to Israel or a land of great darkness? Why do my people say,‘ We are free to roam; we will come to you no more’?Does a young woman forget her jewelry, a bride her wedding ornaments? Yet my people have forgotten me, days without number.How skilled you are at pursuing love! Even the worst of women can learn from your ways. (niv)

He drove out nations before them and allotted their lands to them as an inheritance; he settled the tribes of Israel in their homes.But they put God to the test and rebelled against the Most High; they did not keep his statutes.Like their ancestors they were disloyal and faithless, as unreliable as a faulty bow.They angered him with their high places; they aroused his jealousy with their idols. (niv)

The images of their gods you are to burn in the fire. Do not covet the silver and gold on them, and do not take it for yourselves, or you will be ensnared by it, for it is detestable to the Lord your God.Do not bring a detestable thing into your house or you, like it, will be set apart for destruction. Regard it as vile and utterly detest it, for it is set apart for destruction. (niv)

Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said:“ I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.”Therefore,“ Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” (niv)

Destroy completely all the places on the high mountains, on the hills and under every spreading tree, where the nations you are dispossessing worship their gods.Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones and burn their Asherah poles in the fire; cut down the idols of their gods and wipe out their names from those places. (niv)

He said to Aaron,“ What did these people do to you, that you led them into such great sin?” (niv)

After these things had been done, the leaders came to me and said,“ The people of Israel, including the priests and the Levites, have not kept themselves separate from the neighboring peoples with their detestable practices, like those of the Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Jebusites, Ammonites, Moabites, Egyptians and Amorites.They have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and their sons, and have mingled the holy race with the peoples around them. And the leaders and officials have led the way in this unfaithfulness.”When I heard this, I tore my tunic and cloak, pulled hair from my head and beard and sat down appalled. (niv)

but I gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in obedience to all I command you, that it may go well with you.But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts. They went backward and not forward.From the time your ancestors left Egypt until now, day after day, again and again I sent you my servants the prophets.But they did not listen to me or pay attention. They were stiff-necked and did more evil than their ancestors.’“ When you tell them all this, they will not listen to you; when you call to them, they will not answer.Therefore say to them,‘ This is the nation that has not obeyed the Lord its God or responded to correction. Truth has perished; it has vanished from their lips. (niv)

Do not make a covenant with them or with their gods.Do not let them live in your land or they will cause you to sin against me, because the worship of their gods will certainly be a snare to you.” (niv)

He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. (niv)
