Whenever the Lord raised up a judge for them, he was with the judge and saved them out of the hands of their enemies as long as the judge lived; for the Lord relented because of their groaning under those who oppressed and afflicted them.

耶和華見他百姓毫無能力，無論困住的、自由的都沒有剩下，就必為他們伸冤，為他的僕人後悔。

你平生的日子，必無一人能在你面前站立得住。我怎樣與摩西同在，也必照樣與你同在；我必不撇下你，也不丟棄你。

耶和華就後悔造人在地上，心中憂傷。

然而，他聽見他們哀告的時候，就眷顧他們的急難，為他們記念他的約，照他豐盛的慈愛後悔。

神聽見他們的哀聲，就記念他與亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各所立的約。

夜間，主在異象中對保羅說：「不要怕，只管講，不要閉口，有我與你同在，必沒有人下手害你，因為在這城裏我有許多的百姓。」

神說：「我必與你同在。你將百姓從埃及領出來之後，你們必在這山上事奉我；這就是我打發你去的證據。」

耶和華啊，我們要等到幾時呢？求你轉回，為你的僕人後悔。

於是神察看他們的行為，見他們離開惡道，他就後悔，不把所說的災禍降與他們了。

以法蓮哪，我怎能捨棄你？以色列啊，我怎能棄絕你？我怎能使你如押瑪？怎能使你如洗扁？我回心轉意，我的憐愛大大發動。

我何時論到一邦或一國說，要拔出、拆毀、毀壞；我所說的那一邦，若是轉意離開他們的惡，我就必後悔，不將我想要施行的災禍降與他們。我何時論到一邦或一國說，要建立、栽植；他們若行我眼中看為惡的事，不聽從我的話，我就必後悔，不將我所說的福氣賜給他們。

以色列人就除掉他們中間的外邦神，事奉耶和華。耶和華因以色列人受的苦難，就心中擔憂。

約哈斯懇求耶和華，耶和華就應允他，因為見以色列人所受亞蘭王的欺壓。

耶和華說：因為困苦人的冤屈和貧窮人的歎息，我現在要起來，把他安置在他所切慕的穩妥之地。

約哈斯年間，亞蘭王哈薛屢次欺壓以色列人。耶和華卻因與亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各所立的約，仍施恩給以色列人，憐恤他們，眷顧他們，不肯滅盡他們，尚未趕逐他們離開自己面前。
