非利士人向以色列人摆阵。两军交战的时候，以色列人败在非利士人面前；非利士人在战场上杀了他们的军兵约有四千人。百姓回到营里，以色列的长老说：“耶和华今日为何使我们败在非利士人面前呢？我们不如将耶和华的约柜从示罗抬到我们这里来，好在我们中间救我们脱离敌人的手。”

这米迦有了神堂，又制造以弗得和家中的神像，分派他一个儿子作祭司。

非利士人和以色列人打仗，以色列人败了，各向各家奔逃，被杀的人甚多，以色列的步兵仆倒了三万。神的约柜被掳去，以利的两个儿子何弗尼、非尼哈也都被杀了。

米迦就把这一千一百舍客勒银子还他母亲。他母亲说：“我分出这银子来为你献给耶和华，好雕刻一个像，铸成一个像。现在我还是交给你。”

西坡拉生了一个儿子，摩西给他起名叫革舜，意思说：“因我在外邦作了寄居的。”

甚至他离弃示罗的帐幕，就是他在人间所搭的帐棚；又将他的约柜交与人掳去，将他的荣耀交在敌人手中；并将他的百姓交与刀剑，向他的产业发怒。

以色列人又行耶和华眼中看为恶的事，耶和华将他们交在非利士人手中四十年。

“‘有人制造耶和华所憎恶的偶像，或雕刻，或铸造，就是工匠手所做的，在暗中设立，那人必受咒诅！’百姓都要答应说：‘阿们！’

又带着西坡拉的两个儿子，一个名叫革舜，因为摩西说：“我在外邦作了寄居的”；

“在你们中间，在耶和华你神所赐你的诸城中，无论哪座城里，若有人，或男或女，行耶和华你神眼中看为恶的事，违背了他的约，去侍奉敬拜别神，或拜日头，或拜月亮，或拜天象，是主不曾吩咐的；有人告诉你，你也听见了，就要细细地探听，果然是真，准有这可憎恶的事行在以色列中，你就要将行这恶事的男人或女人拉到城门外，用石头将他打死。要凭两三个人的口作见证将那当死的人治死；不可凭一个人的口作见证将他治死。见证人要先下手，然后众民也下手将他治死。这样，就把那恶从你们中间除掉。

“你们不可做什么虚无的神像，不可立雕刻的偶像或是柱像，也不可在你们的地上安什么錾成的石像，向它跪拜，因为我是耶和华你们的神。

他将列国的地赐给他们，他们便承受众民劳碌得来的，好使他们遵他的律例，守他的律法。你们要赞美耶和华！

我知道我死后，你们必全然败坏，偏离我所吩咐你们的道，行耶和华眼中看为恶的事，以手所做的惹他发怒；日后必有祸患临到你们。”

“不可为自己雕刻偶像，也不可做什么形像仿佛上天、下地，和地底下、水中的百物。

耶和华又对摩西说：“你必和你列祖同睡。这百姓要起来，在他们所要去的地上，在那地的人中，随从外邦神行邪淫，离弃我，违背我与他们所立的约。
