The five men who had spied out the land went inside and took the idol, the ephod and the household gods while the priest and the six hundred armed men stood at the entrance of the gate.

The five men who had looked over the land went inside. They took the statue covered with silver. They also took the family gods and the linen apron. During that time, the priest stood at the entrance of the gate. The 600 men stood there with him. They were prepared for battle.

And the five men who had gone to scout out the land went up and entered and took the carved image, the ephod, the household gods, and the metal image, while the priest stood by the entrance of the gate with the 600 men armed with weapons of war.

And the five men that went to spy out the land went up, and came in thither, and took the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image: and the priest stood by the entrance of the gate with the six hundred men girt with weapons of war.

And the five men that went to spy out the land went up,[ and] came in thither,[ and] took the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image: and the priest stood in the entering of the gate with the six hundred men[ that were] appointed with weapons of war.

The five men who had gone to spy out the land broke in and stole the carved image, the ephod, the personal idols, and the metal image, while the priest was standing at the entrance to the gate with the six hundred fully armed men.

先前窺探拉億地的五個人對他們的弟兄說：「你們知道嗎？這些屋子裏有以弗得和家中的神像，以及一尊雕刻的像與一尊鑄成的像。現在你們要知道該怎麼做。」

米迦把銀子還他母親，他母親把二百塊銀子交給銀匠，去造一尊雕刻的像，以及一尊鑄成的像，安置在米迦的房子裏。米迦這個人有了神堂，又造了以弗得和家中的神像，派他的一個兒子作祭司。

但人從瑣拉和以實陶派本族中的五個勇士，去窺探偵察那地，對他們說：「你們去偵察那地。」他們來到以法蓮山區米迦的家中，就在那裏住宿。

當時拉班去剪羊毛，拉結偷了他父親家中的神像。

非利士人召了祭司和占卜的來，說：「我們向耶和華的約櫃應當怎樣做呢？請指示我們要用甚麼方法把約櫃送回原處。」他們說：「若要將以色列神的約櫃送回去，不可空手送回，一定要給他獻賠罪的禮物，然後你們才可以得痊癒，並且知道他的手為何不離開你們。」非利士人說：「應當用甚麼獻為賠罪的禮物呢？」他們說：「當按照非利士領袖的數目，獻五個金痔瘡和五個金老鼠，因為你們眾人和領袖所遭遇的都是一樣的災禍。當製造你們痔瘡的像和毀壞田地老鼠的像，並要將榮耀歸給以色列的神，或者他向你們和你們的神明，以及你們的田地，把手放輕些。你們為何硬着心，像埃及人和法老硬着心一樣呢？神豈不是嚴厲對付埃及，使埃及人釋放以色列人，他們就走了嗎？現在你們應當造一輛新車，把兩頭未曾負軛，還在哺乳的母牛套在車上，趕牛犢離開母牛，回家去。你們要把耶和華的約櫃放在車上，把所獻賠罪的金器裝在匣子裏，放在櫃旁，送走櫃子，讓它去。你們要觀察：車若直行過以色列的邊界，上到伯‧示麥去，這大災禍就是耶和華降在我們身上的；若不然，我們就知道，這不是他的手擊打我們，而是我們偶然遭遇的。」

他將他們所鑄的牛犢用火焚燒，磨得粉碎，撒在水面上，叫以色列人喝。

我必從你中間除滅雕刻的偶像和柱像，你就不再跪拜自己手所造的；

神的約櫃被擄去，以利的兩個兒子何弗尼、非尼哈也都被殺了。

他們抬起神像，扛在肩上，安置在定處，使它站立，不離本位；人呼求它，它卻不回答，也無法救人脫離災難。

彼勒叩拜，尼波屈身；巴比倫的偶像馱在走獸和牲畜背上。你們所抬的成了重馱，使牲畜疲乏。這些神明一同屈身叩拜，不能救自己，反倒遭人擄去。

約阿施對站着敵對他的眾人說：「你們是為巴力辯護嗎？你們要救它嗎？誰為它辯護，就在早晨把誰處死吧！巴力如果是神，有人拆毀了它的壇，就讓它為自己辯護吧！」

將列國的神像扔在火裏，因為它們不是神，是人手所造的，是木頭、石頭，所以被滅絕了。耶和華－我們的神啊，現在求你救我們脫離亞述王的手，使地上萬國都知道惟獨你－耶和華是神！」
