The five men who had spied out the land went inside and took the idol, the ephod and the household gods while the priest and the six hundred armed men stood at the entrance of the gate.

The five men who had looked over the land went inside. They took the statue covered with silver. They also took the family gods and the linen apron. During that time, the priest stood at the entrance of the gate. The 600 men stood there with him. They were prepared for battle.

And the five men who had gone to scout out the land went up and entered and took the carved image, the ephod, the household gods, and the metal image, while the priest stood by the entrance of the gate with the 600 men armed with weapons of war.

从前去窥探拉亿地的五个人，对他们的族人说：“这些屋子里有以弗得、神像、雕像和铸像，你们知道吗？现在你们要考虑一下应该怎样行。”

米迦把银子还给他母亲以后，他母亲取出二千三百克银子交给银匠，制造一个雕像和一个铸像，都放在米迦的家里。米迦这人有一间神庙，又制造以弗得和家中的神像，并且立了他的一个儿子作祭司。

于是但人从琐拉和以实陶，差派他们家族中的五个勇士，去窥探查察那地，对他们说：“你们去查察那地吧。”他们来到以法莲山地，进了米迦的家，就在那里住宿。

当时拉班剪羊毛去了，拉结就偷了他父亲的神像。

非利士人把众祭司和占卜的都召了来，问他们：“我们应该怎样处理耶和华的约柜呢？请告诉我们，要怎样才能把它送回原处呢？”他们回答：“你们把以色列神的约柜送回去的时候，不可空空地把它送回去，却要偿还赔罪的礼物，这样，你们就可以得着医治，也可以知道，为什么他的手没有离开你们。”非利士人问：“我们应当偿给他什么作赔罪的礼物呢？”他们回答：“要按照非利士人各城首领的数目，用五个金痔疮和五只金老鼠作赔罪的礼物，因为你们所有的人和你们各城的首领所遭遇的，都是一样的灾祸。所以你们要做痔疮的像和毁坏田地的老鼠的像，还要把荣耀归给以色列的神。也许他会向你们、你们的神和你们的田地手下留情。你们为什么要硬着心，像以前埃及人和法老那样呢？神严严地对付他们以后，他们不是放走了以色列人，以色列人不是真的离开了吗？现在你们要预备一辆新车和两头仍在乳养小牛、未曾负过轭的母牛，把它们紧紧套在车上，把小牛从它们身边带回棚里去。你们要把耶和华的约柜搬来，放在车上，把那些偿给他作赔罪礼物的金器放在盒子里，放置在约柜旁边，然后把它送上路，让它自己走。你们要留意看，如果它是走向自己的境界，往伯．示麦去，那么就是耶和华降这大灾给我们；如果不是这样，我们就知道，不是他的手攻击我们，我们遭遇的不过是偶然的事。”

又把他们所做的那牛犊拿过来，用火焚烧，磨到粉碎，撒在水面上，让以色列人喝。

我必从你中间除掉你雕刻的偶像和柱像，你就不再跪拜你手所做的；

神的约柜也被抢去，以利的两个儿子何弗尼和非尼哈也死了。

他们把神像抬起来，扛在肩头上，然后把它安置在固定的地方，它就立在那里，总不离开它的本位。虽然有人向它呼求，它也不能回答；它也不能救人脱离患难。

彼勒俯伏，尼波弯腰；巴比伦人的偶像驮在走兽和牲口上。你们所抬的现在都成了重担，成了疲乏的牲畜身上的重负。它们一同弯腰、俯伏，不能保护重负，它们自己反倒被掳去了。

约阿施对所有站着攻击他的人说：“你们要为巴力辩护吗？或是你们要救他呢？谁为他辩护，到早晨就必死亡。巴力若是神，有人拆毁了他的祭坛，就让他为自己辩护吧。”

把它们的神丢进火里，但他们并不是神，不过是人手用木头、石头做成的，因此他们可以把他们除掉。现在，耶和华我们的神啊，求你从他的手中把我们拯救出来，地上万国就可以知道只有你耶和华才是神。”
