The Philistine rulers held a great festival, offering sacrifices and praising their god, Dagon. They said,“ Our god has given us victory over our enemy Samson!”

Now the Philistine leaders gathered together to offer a great sacrifice to their god Dagon. They rejoiced and said: Our god has handed over our enemy Samson to us.

Now the governors of the Philistines assembled to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon their god, and to celebrate, for they said,“ Our god has handed Samson our enemy over to us.”

以永生不可壞天主之榮、易以偶像、髣髴可壞之人、及禽獸昆蟲之形、故天主聽其心之嗜慾、淪於污穢、互辱其身、彼以天主之真、易以虛偽、崇拜奉事受造之物、不崇拜奉事造物之主、即永當頌美者也、阿們、

今此人作歌譏刺我、以我為笑談、厭棄我、遠離我、竟敢唾我面、

又以掃羅之兵器、置於其神之廟中、釘其頭顱於大袞廟、

爾敵傾覆、不可欣喜、彼顛蹶時、爾心勿歡樂、

至我遭難、彼眾反歡樂聚集、素不相識之匪類、亦皆聚集毀謗不止、與輕薄貪饕嬉戲之徒偕來、向我切齒、

惟異邦人所獻之祭、祭鬼魔、非祭天主、我不欲爾與鬼魔交、

民曰、異邦萬族、各奉己神之名而行、惟我奉主我天主之名而行、永世靡暨、

論及食祭偶像之物、我儕知偶像在世間為虛無、亦知天主獨一無他、雖有稱為神者、或在天、或在地、即人所信之多神、多主、

列邦之神、雖非天主、豈有以此神更易彼神乎、我民竟以無益之神、更易其榮耀之主、
