And it was so, that when the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to fetch Jephthah out of the land of Tob:

the elders of Gilead went to get Jephthah from the land of Tob.

So the elders of Gilead went to get Jephthah from the land of Tob.

And when the Ammonites made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to bring Jephthah from the land of Tob.

When the Ammonites attacked, the elders of Gilead sent for Jephthah in the land of Tob.

But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen,[ yea], and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:That no flesh should glory in his presence.

But the children of Belial said, How shall this man save us? And they despised him, and brought him no presents. But he held his peace.

Moreover the children of Ammon passed over Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was sore distressed.

And the people said unto Samuel, Who[ is] he that said, Shall Saul reign over us? bring the men, that we may put them to death.

The stone[ which] the builders refused is become the head[ stone] of the corner.This is the LORD’S doing; it[ is] marvellous in our eyes.

And the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled greatly.And he took a yoke of oxen, and hewed them in pieces, and sent[ them] throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And the fear of the LORD fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.

This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send[ to be] a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and[ with] our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust[ him] from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,

Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. And the children of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpeh.And the people[ and] princes of Gilead said one to another, What man[ is he] that will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.
