每逢以色列人播種之後，米甸人總上來，亞瑪力人和東方人也都上來、攻打他們，

他們的仇敵壓迫他們，他們就在敵人手下被制伏了。永恆主多次援救了他們，他們卻計謀着悖逆，就因他們自己的罪罰而被降低。

『君王都來爭戰。在米吉多水旁的他納交戰，那時迦南列王沒得搶掠銀錢。星辰從天上爭戰，從其軌道上同西西拉交戰。急流的基順河把敵人沖沒；擋在前面的急流、基順河急流，我的心啊，奮力踏進哦！『那時馬蹄嘓嘓，因壯馬之急跑奔馳。永恆主的使者說：『你要咒詛米羅斯；大大咒詛其居民；因為他們不來幫助永恆主，不率領勇士幫助永恆主。』『願基尼人希百之妻雅億、比眾婦人多得福氣，比帳棚中婦人更蒙福祉。他求水，她給他奶子，用珍貴的盆呈上奶酪。雅億伸手拿了帳棚橛子，伸右手拿了匠人的鎚子，擊打西西拉，打破他的頭，加以痛擊，把他鬢角穿透，西西拉在雅億腳前屈身，仆倒，躺着，在她腳前屈身，仆倒；在那裏屈身，就在那裏仆倒，被打死了！『西西拉的母親從窗戶裏眺望，從窗櫺中尖聲呼叫說：「他的戰車為何拖延不來呢？他車輪的馬蹄聲為何遲遲聽不到呢？」一個頂聰明的宮女回話安慰她，她自己也逕自言自語說：「莫非他們有所得、在分所擄獲的？——莫非每一個男人得了一兩個女子？莫非西西拉得了彩衣為掠物，得了一兩件刺繡彩衣為掠物。要披在我脖子上為掠物呢？」『永恆主啊，願你的仇敵都這樣滅亡；願愛永恆主的人就像日頭昇現，在發光輝。』這樣，地方就太平四十年。

他出去攻打非利士人，將迦特的城牆、雅比尼的城牆、和亞實突的城牆都拆了破口；又在亞實突境內、非利士人中間建造了幾座城。上帝幫助他攻擊非利士人住在姑珥巴力的亞拉伯人和米烏尼人。
