The Lord was with the men of Judah. They took possession of the hill country, but they were unable to drive the people from the plains, because they had chariots fitted with iron.

The Lord was with the men of Judah. They took over the central hill country. But they weren’t able to drive the people out of the plains. That’s because those people used chariots that had some iron parts.

What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?

The Lord answered,“ Judah is to go. I have handed the land over to him.”

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with My righteous right hand.

Then the Angel of the Lord appeared to him and said:“ The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”Gideon said to Him,“ Please Sir, if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened? And where are all His wonders that our fathers told us about? They said,‘ Hasn’t the Lord brought us out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and handed us over to Midian.”

See, the virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and they will name Him Immanuel, which is translated“ God is with us.”

The Lord was with Joseph, and he became a successful man, serving in the household of his Egyptian master.

Again I saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift, or the battle to the strong, or bread to the wise, or riches to the discerning, or favor to the skillful; rather, time and chance happen to all of them.

I am able to do all things through Him who strengthens me.

The Lord was with him, and wherever he went he prospered. He rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him.

When Jabin king of Hazor heard this news, he sent a message to: Jobab king of Madon, the kings of Shimron and Achshaph,and the kings of the north in the hill country, the Arabah south of Chinnereth, the Judean foothills, and the Slopes of Dor to the west,the Canaanites in the east and west, the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, and Jebusites in the hill country, and the Hivites at the foot of Hermon in the land of Mizpah.They went out with all their armies— a multitude as numerous as the sand on the seashore— along with a vast number of horses and chariots.All these kings joined forces; they came together and camped at the waters of Merom to attack Israel.The Lord said to Joshua,“ Do not be afraid of them, for at this time tomorrow I will cause all of them to be killed before Israel. You are to hamstring their horses and burn up their chariots.”So Joshua and his whole military force surprised them at the waters of Merom and attacked them.The Lord handed them over to Israel, and they struck them down, pursuing them as far as Great Sidon and Misrephoth-maim, and to the east as far as the Valley of Mizpeh. Then the disciples approached Jesus privately and said,“ Why couldn’t we drive it out?”“ Because of your little faith,” He told them.“ For I assure you: If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will tell this mountain,‘ Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.

But the descendants of Joseph said,“ The hill country is not enough for us, and all the Canaanites who inhabit the valley area have iron chariots, both at Beth-shean with its towns and in the Jezreel Valley.”So Joshua replied to Joseph’s family( that is, Ephraim and Manasseh),“ You have many people and great strength. You will not have just one allotment,because the hill country will be yours also. It is a forest; clear it and its outlying areas will be yours. You can also drive out the Canaanites, even though they have iron chariots and are strong.”

Now give me this hill country the Lord promised me on that day, because you heard then that the Anakim are there, as well as large fortified cities. Perhaps the Lord will be with me and I will drive them out as the Lord promised.”

No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. I will be with you, just as I was with Moses. I will not leave you or forsake you.

Devise a plan; it will fail. Make a prediction; it will not happen. For God is with us.

Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

He makes wars cease throughout the earth. He shatters bows and cuts spears to pieces; He burns up the chariots.

Therefore, the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive, have a son, and name him Immanuel.

It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.”But Moses said to the people,“ Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and see the Lord’s salvation He will provide for you today; for the Egyptians you see today, you will never see again.The Lord will fight for you; you must be quiet.”The Lord said to Moses,“ Why are you crying out to Me? Tell the Israelites to break camp.As for you, lift up your staff, stretch out your hand over the sea, and divide it so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.I am going to harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them, and I will receive glory by means of Pharaoh, all his army, and his chariots and horsemen.The Egyptians will know that I am Yahweh when I receive glory through Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.”Then the Angel of God, who was going in front of the Israelite forces, moved and went behind them. The pillar of cloud moved from in front of them and stood behind them.It came between the Egyptian and Israelite forces. The cloud was there in the darkness, yet it lit up the night. So neither group came near the other all night long.Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea. The Lord drove the sea back with a powerful east wind all that night and turned the sea into dry land. So the waters were divided,and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with the waters like a wall to them on their right and their left.The Egyptians set out in pursuit— all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen— and went into the sea after them.Then during the morning watch, the Lord looked down on the Egyptian forces from the pillar of fire and cloud, and threw them into confusion.He caused their chariot wheels to swerve and made them drive with difficulty.“ Let’s get away from Israel,” the Egyptians said,“ because Yahweh is fighting for them against Egypt!”Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may come back on the Egyptians, on their chariots and horsemen.”So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea returned to its normal depth. While the Egyptians were trying to escape from it, the Lord threw them into the sea.The waters came back and covered the chariots and horsemen, the entire army of Pharaoh, that had gone after them into the sea. None of them survived.But the Israelites had walked through the sea on dry ground, with the waters like a wall to them on their right and their left.That day the Lord saved Israel from the power of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.When Israel saw the great power that the Lord used against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and believed in Him and in His servant Moses.

David became more and more powerful, and the Lord God of Hosts was with him.

But the Lord was with Joseph and extended kindness to him. He granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.

At that time Manasseh failed to take possession of Beth-shean and its villages, or Taanach and its villages, or the residents of Dor and its villages, or the residents of Ibleam and its villages, or the residents of Megiddo and its villages; the Canaanites refused to leave this land.When Israel became stronger, they made the Canaanites serve as forced labor but never drove them out completely.At that time Ephraim failed to drive out the Canaanites who were living in Gezer, so the Canaanites have lived among them in Gezer.Zebulun failed to drive out the residents of Kitron or the residents of Nahalol, so the Canaanites lived among them and served as forced labor.Asher failed to drive out the residents of Acco or of Sidon, or Ahlab, Achzib, Helbah, Aphik, or Rehob.The Asherites lived among the Canaanites who were living in the land, because they failed to drive them out.

The Lord of Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah

This is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies. They will turn their backs and run from their enemies, because they have been set apart for destruction. I will no longer be with you unless you remove from you what is set apart.
