獨是明日之事、爾且弗能知、爾命伊何、猶雲霧聚散倏忽、出沒頃刻、

但明日究竟如何、爾不知也、爾之生命如何、乃如雲霧暫現、頃刻即不見矣、

然而明日之事、固非爾所能逆知也。盍一思之、爾之生命、果為何物？人生在世、實如雲煙過眼、瞬息即杳。

For my days consume away like smoke. My bones are burned as a torch.

My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle, and are spent without hope.Oh remember that my life is a breath. My eye will no more see good.

“ Man, who is born of a woman, is of few days, and full of trouble.He grows up like a flower, and is cut down. He also flees like a shadow, and doesn’t continue.

“ Now my days are swifter than a runner. They flee away. They see no good.They have passed away as the swift ships, as the eagle that swoops on the prey.

and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.

But the end of all things is near. Therefore be of sound mind, self- controlled, and sober in prayer.

You sweep them away as they sleep. In the morning they sprout like new grass.In the morning it sprouts and springs up. By evening, it is withered and dry.For we are consumed in your anger. We are troubled in your wrath.

Remember how short my time is, for what vanity you have created all the children of men!

My dwelling is removed, and is carried away from me like a shepherd’s tent. I have rolled up my life like a weaver. He will cut me off from the loom. From day even to night you will make an end of me.
