We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.

All of us get tripped up in many ways. Suppose someone is never wrong in what they say. Then they are perfect. They are able to keep their whole body under control.

For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.

Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.

然律法之所以將一切歸納於罪責之下者、正欲使後人篤信耶穌基督之福音、而承受天主之恩諾耳。

正如經云：『茫茫寰海裏、竟無一介仁；

授爾立身法。傳爾壽康訣。

於是吾於自身之內、另見一法。吾欲為善、而有惡潛伏其中、為之牽引。

予且痛鞭吾身、使之馴伏、蓋恐傳道於人而己遭擯棄也。

吾人之所宣揚者、基督也；所以勸人教人、啟人智慧者、亦基督也。務使人人托基督而成完人、俾得獻之於天主之前、

蓋情慾長則靈心消、靈心長則情慾消；兩者相敵、致爾心有餘而力不足。

守全法而犯一誡者、亦為犯法。

賜爾才備德全、克行厥旨；並因耶穌基督、玉汝於成、俾有以慰愜天心也。願其享受光榮、永世靡暨、心焉祝之。

爾之同鄉、基督之僕、伊伯弗拉、亦祝爾平安。此君在祈禱中、恆為爾等祈求、使爾等在天主聖意之中、確立不移、廓然無疑、俾成完人。

然大慈天主、既召爾等與基督同享無窮光榮、一俟爾等略受挫折以後、必將親自予爾等以成全、賜爾等以堅貞、而充爾等以神力也。
