嘉木不結惡實、惡木不結嘉實；故視其實、可知其樹矣。世未有採鳳果於荊棘、摘葡萄於蒺藜者也。

若云菓美、則樹亦美；若云樹惡、則菓亦惡。樹之美惡、因菓而知也。

且新薦之麵既聖、則其全飥舉聖；樹根既聖、其枝亦聖。即有數枝被折、而爾本屬野欖、倖蒙接入其中、且得分潤厥根之膏澤；爾亦不可向舊枝誇勝。爾如欲誇、當思非爾支根、乃根支爾也。
