Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

Don’t just listen to the word. You fool yourselves if you do that. You must do what it says.

But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.

“ Why do you call me‘ Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like:he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.

So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

But he said,“ Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food,and one of you says to them,“ Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.But someone will say,“ You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe— and shudder!Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless?

For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

“ And behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

“ Not everyone who says to me,‘ Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.On that day many will say to me,‘ Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’And then will I declare to them,‘ I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’“ Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.

If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless.

And that servant who knew his master’s will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive a severe beating.But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.

Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men (niv)

They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you. (niv)

Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become“ fools” so that you may become wise. (niv)
