He who has knowledge spares his words, And a man of understanding is of a calm spirit.

Whoever guards his mouth and tongue Keeps his soul from troubles.

In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise.

He who answers a matter before he hears it, It is folly and shame to him.

He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, But he who is impulsive exalts folly.

He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.

“ Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath,

He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.

A wrathful man stirs up strife, But he who is slow to anger allays contention.

The end of a thing is better than its beginning; The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry, For anger rests in the bosom of fools.

But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

Walk prudently when you go to the house of God; and draw near to hear rather than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they do evil.Do not be rash with your mouth, And let not your heart utter anything hastily before God. For God is in heaven, and you on earth; Therefore let your words be few.For a dream comes through much activity, And a fool’s voice is known by his many words.

The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, And his glory is to overlook a transgression.

Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

A quick-tempered man acts foolishly, And a man of wicked intentions is hated.

But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother,‘ Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says,‘ You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.

Whoever has no rule over his own spirit Is like a city broken down, without walls.

The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.

The beginning of strife is like releasing water; Therefore stop contention before a quarrel starts.

“ Now therefore, listen to me, my children, For blessed are those who keep my ways.Hear instruction and be wise, And do not disdain it.Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors.For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the Lord;

For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.

idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

and were unable to do anything; for all the people were very attentive to hear Him.

So I sent to you immediately, and you have done well to come. Now therefore, we are all present before God, to hear all the things commanded you by God.”

A man of great wrath will suffer punishment; For if you rescue him, you will have to do it again.

But You are God, Ready to pardon, Gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, Abundant in kindness, And did not forsake them.

These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.

I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

So when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath.Now when the congregation had broken up, many of the Jews and devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God.
