日出曝之、草枯花謝、其美亡矣、富者必衰亦如是、

日出曝之、草枯花謝、其色之美亡矣、富者於其所為必衰殘、亦若是、○

烈日以曝之、毒熱以薰之、而草槁矣、而花落矣、而其美亡矣。富貴之終歸衰落亦復如是。

For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business.

The sun rises. Its burning heat dries up the plants. Their blossoms fall. Their beauty is destroyed. In the same way, rich people will fade away. They fade away even as they go about their business.

For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits.

我心被傷、如草枯槁、以至忘餐兮、

有富者衣紫袍枲布、日事華靡宴樂、又有乞者、名拉撒路、通體生瘍、置於富者之門、欲食富者几下遺屑、犬來舐其瘍、乞者死、天使扶至亞伯拉罕之懷、富者亦死而葬、陰間痛苦之際、舉目遙見亞伯拉罕、有拉撒路在其懷、遂呼曰、我祖亞伯拉罕乎、矜恤我、遣拉撒路以指尖蘸水涼我舌、蓋我在此火燄中苦甚、亞伯拉罕曰、子乎、當憶爾生時、受諸福、拉撒路受諸難、今彼慰、而爾苦焉、

噫、富者歟、宜悲泣號咷、因苦難將臨於爾也、爾財壞矣、爾衣蠹矣、爾金銀銹矣、其銹將為證於爾、且如火而蝕爾肉、爾已積財於末日也、刈爾田之工值、爾以詭譎不給、有聲籲呼、且刈者之呼號、已入萬軍之主之耳矣、爾在世奢侈宴樂、饜爾心於宰割之日、爾罪義者而殺之、彼不拒爾、○兄弟乎、宜恆忍以待主臨、試觀農人冀地之嘉產、恆忍以待、至得前後之雨、

用此世者如不妄用、蓋斯世之情狀逝矣、

我日如晷延長、我躬如草枯槁兮、○

詰旦昧爽、上帝備蟲齧蓖蔴、遂致枯槁、日出時、上帝備東風、其氣炎酷、日暴約拿之首、使之昏迷、則求死曰、我之死、猶愈於生焉、

胸鬲脂充、骸骨髓潤、又有至死、心懷困苦、未嘗享福、要皆偃臥土中、為蛆所覆、我知爾意、與爾所以枉我之謀、爾曰、霸者之室家安在、惡人之居幕奚存、爾未詢行路之人乎、不知其引證乎、即惡人於患難之日獲免、在震怒之時得脫、

爾實置之於險地、委之於沉淪兮、猝然荒寂、因威烈而滅沒兮、主歟、爾興起時、蔑視其形相、如人醒時之視夢幻兮、

恃其貨財、誇其富足者、莫能贖其昆弟、為付贖金於上帝、俾其永存不朽、蓋其生命、贖價甚重、永久無成兮、

其出母胎、裸體而來、亦必如是而逝、勞而得者、手無可攜、

禍哉、以法蓮醉者高傲之冠冕、及其美飾之殘花、在膏腴山谷之上、其民沉湎於酒、

不飢不渴、日不之暴、暑不之侵、矜憫之者必引之、導經水源、

其美飾之殘花、在膏腴山谷之上者、若夏前初熟之無花果、見者觀之、摘於手即啖之、

於牧長顯著時、必得不敝之榮冕、
