“ Because this people has rejected the gently flowing waters of Shiloah and rejoices over Rezin and the son of Remaliah,

“ I am like the gently flowing stream of Siloam. But the people of Judah have turned their backs on me. They are filled with joy because of the fall of Rezin and the son of Remaliah.

“ Because this people has refused the waters of Shiloah that flow gently, and rejoice over Rezin and the son of Remaliah,

“ My care for the people of Judah is like the gently flowing waters of Shiloah, but they have rejected it. They are rejoicing over what will happen to King Rezin and King Pekah.

Because these people rejected the slowly flowing water of Shiloah and rejoiced with Rezin and the son of Remaliah,

“ These people have rejected the gently flowing waters of Shiloah and melt in fear over Rezin and the son of Remaliah.

“ Go,” he told him,“ wash in the Pool of Siloam”( this word means“ Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing. (niv)

The Fountain Gate was repaired by Shallun son of Kol-Hozeh, ruler of the district of Mizpah. He rebuilt it, roofing it over and putting its doors and bolts and bars in place. He also repaired the wall of the Pool of Siloam, by the King’s Garden, as far as the steps going down from the City of David. (niv)

Does the snow of Lebanon ever vanish from its rocky slopes? Do its cool waters from distant sources ever stop flowing? (niv)

Now why go to Egypt to drink water from the Nile? And why go to Assyria to drink water from the Euphrates? (niv)

“ Have you acted honorably and in good faith by making Abimelek king? Have you been fair to Jerub- Baal and his family? Have you treated him as he deserves?Remember that my father fought for you and risked his life to rescue you from the hand of Midian.But today you have revolted against my father’s family. You have murdered his seventy sons on a single stone and have made Abimelek, the son of his female slave, king over the citizens of Shechem because he is related to you.So have you acted honorably and in good faith toward Jerub- Baal and his family today? If you have, may Abimelek be your joy, and may you be his, too!But if you have not, let fire come out from Abimelek and consume you, the citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo, and let fire come out from you, the citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo, and consume Abimelek!” (niv)

Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel. (niv)

The priests who serve the Lord are sons of Aaron, and the Levites assist them.Every morning and evening they present burnt offerings and fragrant incense to the Lord. They set out the bread on the ceremonially clean table and light the lamps on the gold lampstand every evening. We are observing the requirements of the Lord our God. But you have forsaken him.God is with us; he is our leader. His priests with their trumpets will sound the battle cry against you. People of Israel, do not fight against the Lord, the God of your ancestors, for you will not succeed.”Now Jeroboam had sent troops around to the rear, so that while he was in front of Judah the ambush was behind them.Judah turned and saw that they were being attacked at both front and rear. Then they cried out to the Lord. The priests blew their trumpetsand the men of Judah raised the battle cry. At the sound of their battle cry, God routed Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.The Israelites fled before Judah, and God delivered them into their hands.Abijah and his troops inflicted heavy losses on them, so that there were five hundred thousand casualties among Israel’s able men.The Israelites were subdued on that occasion, and the people of Judah were victorious because they relied on the Lord, the God of their ancestors. When Ahaz son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, was king of Judah, King Rezin of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel marched up to fight against Jerusalem, but they could not overpower it.Now the house of David was told,“ Aram has allied itself with Ephraim”; so the hearts of Ahaz and his people were shaken, as the trees of the forest are shaken by the wind. (niv)

He also made two capitals of cast bronze to set on the tops of the pillars; each capital was five cubits high. (niv)

“ My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water. (niv)

“ Let us invade Judah; let us tear it apart and divide it among ourselves, and make the son of Tabeel king over it.” (niv)
