四月初九，城裏的饑荒非常嚴重，當地的百姓都沒有糧食。

你在仇敵圍困的窘迫中，必吃你本身所生的，就是耶和華－你神所賜給你的兒女之肉。你中間，連那溫和文雅的人都必冷眼惡待自己的兄弟和懷中的妻子，以及他所剩下其餘的兒女，不把所吃兒女的肉分一點給他們任何一個人，因為在被仇敵圍困、陷入窘迫的各城中，他已經一無所剩了。你中間柔順嬌嫩的婦人，甚至因柔順嬌嫩腳不肯踏地的婦人，也必冷眼惡待她懷中的丈夫和自己的兒女。在被仇敵圍困、陷入窘迫的城鎮中，她因缺乏一切，就要暗中把從她兩腿中間出來的胞衣和所生下的兒女吃了。

正與他們說話的時候，看哪，使者下到他那裏，說：「看哪，這災禍是從耶和華來的，我何必再仰望耶和華呢？」

你地所產的和你勞力所得的，必被你所不認識的百姓吃盡。你天天只被欺負，受壓制，甚至你因眼中所見的景象而瘋狂。

人被炎熱所烤，就褻瀆那有權掌管這些災難的神的名，他們沒有悔改，也沒有把榮耀歸給神。第五位天使把碗傾倒在獸的座位上，獸的國就變成黑暗。人因疼痛而咬自己的舌頭；又因所受的疼痛和生的瘡，就褻瀆天上的神，也沒有為他們的行為悔改。

他的妻子對他說：「你仍然持守你的純正嗎？你背棄神，死了吧！」

但你若伸手毀他一切所有的，他必當面背棄你。」

四月初九，城裏的饑荒非常嚴重，當地的百姓都沒有糧食。

吃奶孩子的舌頭因乾渴貼住上膛，孩童求餅，卻無人擘給他們。素來吃美好食物的，如今遭遺棄在街上；素來穿着朱紅衣裳長大的，如今卻擁抱糞堆。

被刀劍刺殺的勝過因飢餓而死的；飢餓者由於缺乏田裏的出產就消瘦而亡。當我百姓遭毀滅的時候，慈心的婦人親手烹煮自己的兒女為食物。

其餘未曾被這些災難所殺的人仍舊不為自己手所做的悔改，還是去拜鬼魔和那些不能看、不能聽、不能走，用金、銀、銅、木、石所造的偶像。他們也不為自己所犯的那些兇殺、邪術、淫亂、偷竊的事悔改。
