But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!”

By the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, the famine had become so severe in the city that there was no food for the people of the land.

The tongue of the infant clings To the roof of its mouth for thirst; The young children ask for bread, But no one breaks it for them.Those who ate delicacies Are desolate in the streets; Those who were brought up in scarlet Embrace ash heaps.

Those slain by the sword are better off Than those who die of hunger; For these pine away, Stricken for lack of the fruits of the field.The hands of the compassionate women Have cooked their own children; They became food for them In the destruction of the daughter of my people.

But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk.And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.
