He will be a holy place; for both Israel and Judah he will be a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare.

Then the Lord will be a holy place of safety for you. But that’s not true for many people in Israel and Judah. He will be a stone that causes them to trip. He will be a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare.

And he will become a sanctuary and a stone of offense and a rock of stumbling to both houses of Israel, a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

He will keep you safe. But to Israel and Judah he will be a stone that makes people stumble, a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare.

He will be a sanctuary; but for the two houses of Israel, he will be a stone to stumble over and a rock to trip over, and a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

並且是「一塊絆腳的石頭，使人絆倒的磐石。」他們絆倒是因為不肯信從這話語，而這也是被預定的。

這是為什麼呢？因為他們不是本於信，倒像是本於行為去追求的，所以他們就絆倒在那「絆腳的石頭」上。正如經上所記：「看哪，我在錫安放一塊絆腳的石頭，是使人絆倒的磐石；可是信靠他的人將不至於蒙羞。」

西面祝福他們，並對孩子的母親瑪麗亞說：「看哪，這孩子註定要使以色列中許多人跌倒、許多人興起，並要成為一個遭受反對的標記，

所以，主耶和華如此說：「看哪！我在錫安放一塊作根基的石頭，是試驗過的石頭，是寶貴的房角石，穩固的根基——信靠的人必不驚慌。

神是我們的避難所和力量，是患難中隨時可得的幫助，因此我們不害怕——即使大地變動，群山動搖陷入海中；

他必向惡人密布網羅，火、硫磺、灼熱的風是他們杯中的份。

耶和華的名是堅固的塔樓，義人跑進去就安穩在高處。

這樣，他們就對耶穌很反感。耶穌對他們說：「先知除了在本鄉、本家以外，沒有不受尊重的。」

願他們的筵席在他們面前成為網羅，在他們平安的時候成為陷阱。

又是誰首先給了主，使自己將來得到回報呢？」

我的民哪，去吧！進入你的內室，關上身後的門，短暫地躲藏一會兒，等到耶和華的憤怒過去！

因為那日子將要臨到所有住在全地面上的人。

躲避白天炎熱的遮蔭棚，躲避狂風暴雨的避難所和藏身處。

地上的居民哪，恐怖、陷坑和網羅都要臨到你們！那時，逃避恐怖風聲的將掉進陷坑，從陷坑中爬上來的將被網羅纏住；因為天上的窗戶敞開了，大地的根基也震動了。

大衛也說：「讓他們的筵席成為網羅、陷阱、絆腳石，又成為他們的報應。讓他們的眼睛昏暗不能看。讓他們的腰背永遠彎曲。」所以我要問，難道以色列人跌倒了，是要他們敗落嗎？絕對不是！相反，因他們的過犯，救恩就臨到了外邦人，為要激起以色列人的嫉妒之心。
