當是時主必藉河外之人、即亞述王、翦除民眾、如以所租之薙刀、薙除首髮、足毛、及鬚髯、

In that day the Lord will use a razor hired from beyond the Euphrates River— the king of Assyria— to shave your heads and private parts, and to cut off your beards also.

At that time the Lord will use the Assyrians to punish you. Ahaz had hired them earlier from east of the Euphrates River. Now their king will be like a razor in the Lord’s hand. He will shave the hair from your head and private parts. He will also shave off your beards.

In that day the Lord will shave with a razor that is hired beyond the River— with the king of Assyria— the head and the hair of the feet, and it will sweep away the beard also.

In that day the Lord will hire a“ razor” from beyond the Euphrates River— the king of Assyria— and use it to shave off everything: your land, your crops, and your people.

「人子啊，去拿一把快刀當作剃頭刀，剃掉你的頭髮和鬍鬚，然後用天平把鬚髮平均分成三份。圍城期滿後，你要把三分之一的鬚髮焚燒在城中，三分之一在城的四周用刀砍斷，三分之一要揚在風中吹散，因為我要拔刀追殺他們。你要從鬚髮中取出幾縷用衣服包上，再從中取出幾根丟在火裡焚燒，必有火從這裡燃起，蔓延到整個以色列。」

然而，斧頭怎能向舞動它的人自誇呢？鋸子怎能向用鋸的人炫耀呢？難道棍子可以揮動舉它的人嗎？手杖可以舉起它的主人嗎？

我要差來亞述王的軍隊，使他們像幼發拉底河的洪流一樣洶湧而來，淹沒一切水道，漫過河岸，

你們為什麼一再叛逆？你們還要受責打嗎？你們已經頭破血流，身心疲憊。

現在，我要把你們的國家交給我的僕人巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒，連田野的走獸也要歸他管轄。各國都要臣服於他和他的子孫，直到他的國家滅亡。那時，許多國家和強大的君王必奴役他。

亞述王提革拉·毗列色來到猶大後，不但不救他，反而壓迫他。亞哈斯從耶和華的殿裡、王宮和官員家中取財寶送給亞述王，但無濟於事。

耶和華說：「亞述王有禍了！他是我的憤怒之棍，他手中拿著我發烈怒的杖。我要差遣他去攻打一個不虔敬的國家，一個惹我發怒的民族，去搶奪、擄掠他們的財物，像踐踏街上的泥土一樣踐踏他們。

亞哈斯差遣使者去見亞述王提革拉·毗列色，對他說：「我是你的僕人、你的兒子，現在亞蘭王和以色列王攻打我，求你從他們手中拯救我。」亞哈斯把耶和華殿裡和王宮庫房裡的金銀送給亞述王。

「人子啊，巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒派兵苦攻泰爾，以致士兵的頭都禿了，肩也破了，卻是徒勞無功。

因此，耶和華要在一日之間剷除以色列的頭和尾。頭是指他們的長老和首領，尾是指教人虛謊之事的假先知。這些帶領者使百姓步入歧途、走向滅亡。他們目無上帝，行事邪惡，口出狂言。所以，主不喜歡他們的青年，也不憐憫他們的孤兒寡婦。雖然如此，耶和華的怒氣還沒有止息，祂降罰的手沒有收回。

耶和華必使埃及的海乾涸，揮手用焦熱的風使幼發拉底河分成七條溪流，使人可以涉水而過。

看啊，耶和華必摧毀大地，使大地荒涼。祂毀壞地面，驅散萬民。那時，祭司和百姓，主人和僕人，主母和婢女，買的和賣的，貸的和借的，債主和債戶都必同遭厄運。

他和他的軍隊為我效力，所以我把埃及賜給他作為酬勞。』這是主耶和華說的。

希西迦王執政第十四年，亞述王西拿基立起兵攻取了猶大所有的堅城。希西迦王差遣使者去拉吉見亞述王說：「我知罪了，求你退兵！我願意滿足你的任何要求。」亞述王向希西迦索要十噸銀子和一噸金子。希西迦將耶和華殿裡和王宮庫房裡的所有銀子都給了他，又刮下他包在耶和華殿門和門柱上的金子，一併送去。
