When Ahaz son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, was king of Judah, King Rezin of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel marched up to fight against Jerusalem, but they could not overpower it.

Ahaz was king of Judah. Rezin was king of Aram. And Pekah was king of Israel. Rezin and Pekah marched up to fight against Jerusalem. But they couldn’t overpower it. Ahaz was the son of Jotham and the grandson of Uzziah. Pekah was the son of Remaliah.

In the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, king of Judah, Rezin the king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah the king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to wage war against it, but could not yet mount an attack against it.

When Ahaz, son of Jotham and grandson of Uzziah, was king of Judah, King Rezin of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah, the king of Israel, set out to attack Jerusalem. However, they were unable to carry out their plan.

對他說：『你要謹慎，保持鎮靜，不要因亞蘭王利汛和利瑪利的兒子發烈怒而害怕，也不要因這兩個冒煙的火把殘頭而心裡膽怯。儘管亞蘭王和以法蓮王利瑪利的兒子策劃惡事要害你，說：「讓我們上去攻擊猶大，恐嚇它，攻破它歸我們，並在其中立塔比勒的兒子為王」，但主耶和華如此說：「這事必立不住，也不會得逞，因為亞蘭之首不過是大馬士革，大馬士革之首不過是利汛；至於以法蓮，六十五年之內必被擊碎，不再成為一個民族；以法蓮之首不過是撒馬利亞，撒馬利亞之首不過是利瑪利的兒子。你們如果不相信，就一定不能堅立。」』」
